[li]Hoo, or anybody who runs a web site, has the right to restrict posting in any way. He runs the show, he's paid for the site, he's invested countless hours in running the site. What he says, goes.

[li]The first amendment only applies to the government not inhibiting the free speech of individuals or groups. Private organizations can restrict speech any way they see fit. Anybody who doesn't know this needs to go back to high school and learn the constitution all over again.

There is a thread from a year ago about swallowing semen. I too was amazed, but even more amazed in the number of people who have done it for years and were hiv neg. The theory was that there was a possible infection rate of 2% (as opposed to one of 7% in a more recent article). People discussed this back and forth, but clearly there were a large number of people who had done it over a number of years.

I remember Jizz seemed to have said he had done it, but then corrected himself to say that it had been back in the early 80s.

I did NOT say that "even the moderators" disagreed with Hooboy's decision. I said that I, personally, disagree with his handling of it. I happen to agree with the decision to ban Ethan. I, personally, happen to think it was handled spectacularly badly leaving the moderators holding the bag.

 

You'll notice that elsewhere in this thread HooBoy apologized to the moderators. It's a pity you don't have as much class.

 

Between your tirades here and your silly e-mail campaign you may THINK you are serving some larger purpose "for the community". You are doing exactly the opposite.

Wrong bucko. This is the internet. The US Government does not have jurisdiction. The reason so many laws that have attempted to govern internet content have failed is because the Internet is not owned by the USofA.

 

The internet played a crucial role in the fall of the iron curtain because no single government could control content. In this regard, the US Government is equally powerless.

 

The US Government can go after specific ISP's with physical addresses in the US if they host, for example, kiddie porn. But pornography in and of itself is not illegal.

 

And as others have posted, the first ammendment applies to government's restriction on free speech.

 

This is the internet, and your host provides you a place to speak. (In your case, mostly to lob grenades at the guy who provides that place to speak.)

 

The ONLY arbiter of what is allowed here is the guy who pays the ISP bill every month. I'll give you one guess who that is. (Hint: It isn't you!)

I have been here a long time in one form or another and have never seen two people register on the same day simply to post negative comments in this thread. Your post is amazing, you use more disclaimers than the end of a Nissan commercial.

And stop using the word "but," it is like a giant erasure that makes everything that preceeds it invalid.

 

HooBoy does not need to explain a single thing. This is his site and he does what he feels is in the best interest of his business. If you do not like his decision then move on to the next link. It really is that simple.
