The Promise of Young Love

Or, have you become cynical and jaded, thinking sex is all that counts, and men in general are pigs?

How can you not look at this happy couple and feel a promising future?

Both are 23 and appear to have good jobs and a good education. They have actually taken the step to have their partnership certified by the state, and then put out the trumpet call in the New York Times:

 

Hey world, we are in love forever!

 

When I was 23 I was deeply in the closet, and the thought of parading my love publicly, or, God forbid, my homosexuality, would have scared the crap out of me.

 

So now I look at these young guys, thankful that they shared , and hopeful for there future. I guess that makes me a romantic, because the cynical might just think about infidelity and divorce as the next stops on the train.

The cynic in all of us see the pitfalls. cheating divorce. its a reality in many cases but I agree HOPE BURNS ETERNAL I wish them luck and hope to find mine someday. Im glad to see the old romantic in you too lucky. especially since you have had what so many of us look for.

Cynic = reality. Romantic = hope springs eternal. With any luck one can experience one without losing sight of the other.

 

My favorite definition of romantic = I will love you forever; at least until tomorrow.

I had a very romantic attitude when I was young; that's why I kept sleeping with every new man I could get my hands on, in order to find Mr. Right. Unfortunately, it became a habit that I couldn't break, even after I had settled down with Mr. Right.
