The reason there'were no male brothel in Nevada is a medical one.

Nevada law requires that registered brothel prostitutes be tested weekly (by a cervical specimen) for gonorrhea and Chlamydia trachomatis, and monthly for HIV and syphilis; condoms are mandatory for all oral sex and sexual intercourse. Brothel owners may be held liable if customers become infected with HIV after a prostitute has tested positive for the virus. Women work a legally mandated minimum of nine days for each work period. Post-op transsexuals and men cannot become prostitutes in a brothel because of the cervical specimen requirement. since then they made changes to permit males.. I'm surprised a brothel of any kind would do well I figured allot of guys would whine over having to use condoms for oral sex. lol

I remember reading all about it when Heidi Fleiss wanted to open a male brothel and all that's required she ended up deciding to pass. They did a documentary on brothels once. there's no illusion that its anything more than a business. the one they visited on tv they even had timers behind the counter set for each room. when the hours up a timer went off. However i do agree with the testing they do weekly and monthly.

Even if condoms are regulated for male/male oral sex, there is no guarantee that once the door is closed and locked, regulations will be followed.

I wonder if the male hookers have to have their hoop examined once a week?

allot of those types that own brothels are serious business owners and wont put up with fines or losing their investment. First time they catch someone not using condoms or it gets back to the owners and sooner or later things always get back to the owner I bet they kick that escort out on their hoop too lol

No Prostitution in Clark or Washoe Counties...

Still not OK in LV and Cook County.

Greg's right. Male/female prostitution and brothels are legal throughout Nevada in all BUT two counties. Those counties are Clark, which includes the city of Las Vegas; and Washoe, which includes the city of Reno.

Cheers,

Factual Inaccuracy

I note that the Gawker article makes a gross factual error in claiming that "most of the gay hustlers on Rentboy.com start in the neighborhood of $300 an hour." I have just done a search on Rentboy and found that only 106 of the 1,634 US escorts listed on the site (6%) quote an incall rate of $300 or more. I don't much appreciate the pejorative term hustlers either.

Markus Bigelow, male gigolo. High school drop-out and 'short' porn star career. Wonder if he has any teeth...

Wow, this is just too rich.

And it's more of a civil rights thing now. Basically this is the first time in the economy of the United States that a male has actually stood up and said, "I want to do this for a living." And be protected under law to do it. It's just the same as when Rosa Parks decided to sit at the front instead of the back.

and to top it all off,

Marcus says his "sphincter is not for sale."

Sorry, but the market for women who wire male escorts is pretty miniscule, and even if women were ready to pay for it, I think they'd aim a biiiiittttt higher.

Marcus Bigelow himself says that he isn't very sexually experienced aside from a couple of porn scenes he did a month ago, and alludes to some strange condition where he wasn't touched enough as a child. If women want to have lousy sex with a man, they can stay home and do that with their husbands—for free.

After Reading Markus Bigelow's Interview...

Two thoughts:

1. "My sphincter is not for sale" would be an awesome bumper sticker.

2. When I think "male escort for women," Richard Gere in 1980 is what I think. Not this guy.

For the 1980 Richard Gere, I would gladly pay $200+. But, not this guy.

At the time I would definitely have given a man like Richard Gere his asked for fee! He was mighty hot back in the 80s, and everytime I viewed this film-- I had a high "sexual fever" and wanted to be on the bottom! RG played the "hell" out of that role!

Male Brothels

I've heard stories about male prostitutes in Europe and their availability in brothels giving you the opportunity to socialize and choose one for a private encounter. From what I've seen on Cable a man can do the same in a legal U.S. brothel with a female prostitute. If male brothels became legal I'd much prefer them. Nothing like going to the store and picking out the delicacy you find most appealing. I find the prospect a lot more civilized than the current process.

Sounds like the Termas in Rio, Barcelona or Buenos Aires.
