Yes, I was aware of that but it really doesn't effect the question. Escorts with lots of reviews will be updated less frequently but since the reviews are queued and posted on the next 'open' date, it shouldn't effect the number of reviews over the longer haul. To use you as an example, you could have one, five, or ten reviews in the queue and we won't know until June 29 when they are all posted but that will even out over time...

Anyway, appreciated your comments from an escort's perspective. I must confess that based on your reviews (not to mention Matt of Vancouver's recommendation), I may well be looking you up if I ever get to St. Louis :p

I don't think one should place too much emphasis on a high number of reviews. Once an escort has reached a critical mass (5 or 6 reviews in my book), that should give a fairly solid picture of his performance. Someone with 50+ reviews has probably just been around longer. I've been with escorts with 50+ reviews that weren't all that great, but I've also been with escorts with 50+ reviews (e.g. Michael Vincenzo--one of the best in the business) who were phenomenal.

Although many escorts never mention reviews, some escorts subtly ask for reviews and others ask bluntly. In my experience, the guys with an extremely large number of reviews DO somehow work this site and the fact that they like to get reviewed into the conversation at some point in our meeting. I don't really mind--whether or not an escort asks for a review doesn't have an impact on my decision to review him. Ironically, a couple of guys have asked for reviews who definitely shouldn't have. I don't think that they would have liked to have my assessment of their performance out there for the world to see.

Hi, on the Greedy/Selfish clients thread the comment was made that some clients stay away from escorts with too many reviews. To my mind that's a question worthy of its own thread. Do you guys stay away from escorts with 'too many reviews'? Is there a threshold?

I do notice a pattern that once an escort gets more than a dozen or so reviews, his 'rate of review' seems to drop sharply (which is a clumsy way of saying that some guys who've been escorting for years, and are still active, will have 20-30 reviews while a guy who's been only 'in the game' for a few months will have 10 or so).

Here's my $0.03 (Cdn) for those who care...

The number of reviews is largely irrelevent to me. I've hired escorts with several dozen reviews and guys with as few as two or three (sorry, not yet brave enough to be a 'pathfinder' -- I haven't hired an escort who's not been reviewed on this site!).

There are several guys with large numbers of reviews (naming no names) that I'm pretty sure have been written by the same person (I do a lot of editing and certain patterns are pretty identifiable though I'm not saying that my guesswork is infallible...) and I confess that I tend to avoid those. However, I don't discount first-time reviewers (the way some guys indicate they do). Maybe that's because I was a first-time reviewer only a few months ago... I suppose I look for variety most, which indicates an escort who's open-minded (a must for me!). But the number of reviews is one of the least important factors for me.

So anyone else have any thoughts to offer?

As an FYI....you may want to know that after 10 reviews , it may seem that the rate of reviews goes down because reviews will only be posted one time every 30 days, where as if the escort has less than 10, they will be posted once every 10 days. I believe that's correct.

regardless, it's been my experience that my clients have booked me because of the glowing reviews, but nonetheless, even when I had only 5 or so reviews, clients were interested because of the sincerity and passion to which each reviewer brought to their posting. So , I think it has less to do with quantity, and more to do with quality.

alanm, would you care to share with us what reviews you find suspicious? As much as you can remember anyway. Your being an editor will make your opinion more worthwhile, which I'm sure others will appreciate.

The answer to the question in the subject is, I think, no.

I think the value to continually piling up reviews is it shows performance over time. You'll often see a posting here like "Hey anyone know about <name>? He hasn't been reviewed in forever!" It's often an escort who's still advertising, but nobody has had anything to say in a while. A brief review that only says "he's as good (or bad) as ever" would actually help the "community" because it would indicate a recent experience.

Also, we've seen young escorts who start off inexperienced and make some mistakes who go on to grow and learn, and build stellar reputations. A long string of reviews shows that nicely. And, of course, we've seen escorts go the other direction.

Too many? I don't think it's a problem. Stale is more of a problem. If his most recent review is a year old but he's still working, you have to wonder if he's asking clients NOT to review him, and you have to wonder why. :o

i used to tell clients that i'd rather they didn't review me, unless they have something negative to report. admittedly, i'm a bit of a special case here, though.

now, if i'm asked, i simply say that reviewing or not reviewing is entirely at the discretion of the client. i still think i'd want someone who was disappointed to write a review. often, people aren't quite comfortable expressing that expectations weren't met. i suppose it is conflict avoidance. but it helps everyone to know what a particular escort's limitations are or what he should work on. i'm pretty up-front about things, so i've been relatively lucky that there hasn't been that disappointment with me.

and for the all-time dumbest thing i've heard about reviews:

a client told me that another escort in dc (whom i know personally but not professionally) was unhappy with his reviews, although they were all positive. apparently, he doesn't like being objectified.

say it with me: FIND ANOTHER MEANS TO EARN A LIVING!!!!

Actually, any customer service professional will tell you people are FAR more likely to complain than to praise.

ROFL!

I've never heard objectification for a reason, but I've heard everything from "I told my BF I wasn't doing this any more" to "My agent doesn't want me hooking up unless he sets it up".

If they have a good reason, OK. But objectification? Hello?

yeah, but they want to call someone else & complain--speak to a boss, email, hint around like the passive-aggressive freaks they are. folks don't tend to like telling someone to his face what he did wrong.

*I*, of course, have no problem doing so. yet another example of how the world would be such a better place if people would emulate me! (yes, for the challenged crowd, i'm kidding.)

Hence the escort review site. It sorta becomes a surrogate "boss", "supervisor", or other outlet.

HooBoy actually spends an INORDINATE amount of time deflecting freakish and rabid negative reviews which are completely unjustified.

Number of reviews concern me only if: An escort has many reviews,

mostly from first time reviewers (David in Seattle, 65 reviews) or. if someone whom I am interested in has not been reviewed for a long time (Nicholas in NY, Ricardo in SF, are they still escorting).

did you contact the guys in question & ask if they're escorting? while not foolproof, a good guess is that if anyone would know, it would be the escort himself.

I did contact Ricardo several months and received a message back that he was on vacation for 6 weeks. I live on the east coast and will be visiting SF next month, your suggestion is timely. I can certain try again today. Thanks.
