Yes, parasites are enough to make anyone lose their appetite.

 

I'm no medical authority on this subject, but I believe that parasites are much less of a threat than Hepatitis, especially if you're dealing with a person who's been living in a developed country.

Its just the opposite: Hep A is two vaccinations at six months apart, while Hep B is three vaccinations, with the 2nd shot at a one month interval and the 3rd shot at a 6 month interval after the intial shot. I had to have these done for work (as a firefighter), and there are some people who do not take. After getting titers to see if the vaccines took, I discovered the Hep B didn't take. So I did the Hep B series again (which didn't take again), and finally a third time (which finally took). Be sure you get your blood drawn a few months after you get these shots to be sure you have the immunity.

Somehow the whole dental dam (aka rubber dam) thing conjures up thoughts of the endodontic horrors of a pulpectomy... aka the dreaded root canal!

 

It is not a good thing to have to equate the pleasures of sex with the "pleasures" of getting a hole drilled in one's head!

 

But then again if one wants to be totally safe... and there are those that will only enjoy certain aspects of sex when the safety factor is as close to 100 percent as possible... it is something that one must consider. After all, there is a specific reason why dental dams are used in dentistry... it is to make the procedure more successful by preventing the possibility of infection, etc. So even though nothing is 100 percent perfect it is something to consider.

Thanks for catching that. I checked, and you're right. I stand corrected. I had reversed them.

 

Good suggesion to check your blood for antibodies. In fact, even if the vaccine takes, you need to check around 10 years later to see if you are still protected. There's a simple blood test for this.

 

I checked the CDC Web Site for info on Hep vaccinations. Even the CDC could not make a clear recommendation on how often you need to repeat both Hep A and Hep B shots. I would think by now they would have done a long-term study. It probably varies with the individual.

Rubber dams come in various thicknesses and one would assume that the thinner and more velvety the better... and just like condoms they also come in assorted colors, flavors, and scents. The hardest part would seem to be how to keep the damned dam in place.

Found all the comments here very interesting. I have had the vaccines for hepetitis A & B for some time (about a decade), and am usually very careful, but some months back, had a session with a really how (and I assumed... "clean") guy, and within a week or 10 days, came down with 3 diffferent types of pretty serious parasites.

 

Coincidence? Well, I did gently mention to him that I was sick, and he became a bit angry. I was trying to warn him. It took me 6 weeks more to clear the parasites out of my system, and it was 6 weeks of great discomfort taking all the medications needed.

The age-specific prevalence of sexually transmitted human papillomavirus infection in women differs substantially from that in men who have sex with men, according to a new study published in the December 15 issue of The Journal of Infectious Diseases, now available online. The study, led by Peter V. Chin-Hong of the University of California, San Francisco, indicates a high prevalence of anal human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in all age groups of men who have sex with men. This finding contrasts with the age-related prevalence of cervical HPV infection.

 

Numerous studies have previously documented a causal link between HPV infection and anal and cervical cancers. Many studies have also shown that cervical HPV infection is strongly related to age, peaking early and falling after age 30. Little, however, is known about the age-specific prevalence of anal HPV infection in men who have sex with men. Most research on the subject has involved men in a narrow age range who were HIV-infected. The investigators described their study as the first to document anal HPV infection in a HIV-seronegative population of men who have sex with men who were diverse in terms of age and geography.

The study was conducted between January 2001 and October 2002 and involved 1,218 men who have sex with men living in Boston, Denver, New York, and San Francisco. The men were aged 18 to 89 years and 78% were white, 14% were Latino, 6% were African American, and 3% were Asian. The researchers found the prevalence rate of anal HPV infection to be 57%, and this rate did not change with age or from city to city. Factors associated with infection were receptive anal sex and having more than five sex partners in the previous six months.

Study results also described the nature of anal HPV infection in this group. Forty-five percent of those infected had more than one type of HPV. The prevalence of infection with “high-risk” HPV types associated with invasive anal cancer was 26%, suggesting that a high proportion of men who have sex with men may be at risk for anal cancer.

Chin-Hong and colleagues hypothesized that the sex-based difference in HPV epidemiology may reflect a difference between these populations in the number of new sex partners after age 30. They also suggest that there may be organ-specific and hormonal differences that contribute to the epidemiological differences. The investigators noted that one of the strengths of their study was its size and that it is the first multi-city study of anal HPV infection. A potential limitation, they explained, is that they do not know if their results can be generalized to certain subgroups of men who have sex with men, such as those living in rural areas.

“Based on the results of this study, previous assumptions about extrapolating data from cervical disease in women to anal HPV infection in men who have sex with men must be questioned,” Dr. Chin-Hong said. “The unique epidemiology of anal HPV infection should be further explored for its implications for HPV vaccine development and for understanding the risk factors of anal cancer.”

My dental dam experience...

 

While there are apparent risks associated with rimming, it's one of my favorite sexual acts to give and to receive from my sex partners. I also enjoy watching rimming scenes in porn.
