Last night I scheduled an appointment with a guy visiting from NYC. We agreed on a time and he texted me his hotel address and room number. At the appointed time (right on time), I knocked on his door, only to be met with, "I'm still with another client, give me a couple more minutes". It was a bit strange as I felt he wanted me to wait in the hallway. I went back to the lobby and waited 10 minutes, as I still had not heard from him, I got up and left. 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment was to have started, he called me and said he was ready for me. I was already on my way home.

 

He was extremely apologetic, but too little, too late. My point is - no matter how popular an escort/masseur is, no client should see the person before or after them. I understand that maybe the prior client may have been running late, but I feel this person should have contacted me ahead of time to say he was running late and not to come up to the room.

 

Again, he apologized and said he totally understood where I was coming from. He even offered a reduced rate, but at that point, I really wasn't in the mood.

 

Just as I respect a service provider and their time, I would also expect the same.

And frankly, while mine was supposedly just late from dinner, yours just seems like a bad scene - who wants to be scheduled so soon after another guy? Sounds like he was churning out the appointments. Plus, how able to perform would someone be with that kind of back-to-back client scheduling? I would have left the minute I knew he had scheduled me so soon after someone else.

Certain things do stay with you. Last year I had an appointment with a well reviewed and much praised escort. I had seen him several times before. I arrived at the appointed time, only to find he had a client and that he had misscheduled our appointment. I told him I would wait and went to a place for dinner. I called him at the agreed upon time and he did not answer. He called me soon after but the noise in the pub was such I did not hear the ring. When I tried him again, he said he had made other plans saying that when I did not answer he assumed I was mad and had left.

We spoke in person then. I never heard from him again. I probably would have continued to hire him had he offered some sort of apology the next day, even an e-mail. As it is, I have not seen him since. I am sure he is doing well without my business and hopefully is a bit more careful with his scheduling.

Some guys that Travel are to a certain extent Forced into somewhat of a "Revolving Door Biz", as the Overhead in cities like NY is unbelievable.

 

Making Travels work sometimes to their "Financial Advantage" sometimes Tanks and that's why fewer than Normal guys even visit NYC at this point in time.

 

That's also the reason why we see "MY NYC Trip Cancelled" in the Travel Section with reasons other than the Actual Bottom Line Financial reason!

 

Quite a few have held on to "Regulars" and that's why visiting NYC and other Cities is still somewhat worth their while!

 

BUT a New visitor to NYC "Working It" with the Competition here ain't easy or sometimes worth it!

Is NYC really that expensive?

 

Some guys that Travel are to a certain extent Forced into somewhat of a "Revolving Door Biz", as the Overhead in cities like NY is unbelievable.

 

I don't think an escort should ever compromise the quality of his service just because of overhead, so I would think the 'revolving door' strategy is self-defeating. (The escort should raise his price instead or not come to NYC.) But that's an aside. What I wanted to ask is whether people think NYC is that much more expensive than elsewhere for a traveling escort?

 

I would think that the biggest expense by far is hotels (airfares in and out of NYC are cheap), and I'm not sure hotels are so expensive. With the downturn in the economy, decent (not great -- 3-stars, not 5-stars) Manhattan hotels can be booked for $250 a night as long as you don't come during Fashion Week or the year-end holidays. I can't believe that you can stay in any other major city for less than, say, $100 a night, so we're talking about $150 difference. Even if we increased that to $200-a-day difference in expense, that's maybe one more hour a day, not enough to push the escort into "revolving door" mode.

 

Now, there may be so many escorts in NYC that there's too much competition to make a trip here profitable for the average escort, but I bet the higher-profile traveling escorts (many of the guys who frequent this site, for example) are above that competition.

 

What does everyone think? Am I totally misreading the market? Am I missing something?

I see. Thanks for the clarification. So it's an issue of demand for the escort's time rather than cost. That still wouldn't explain the 'revolving door' behavior, though.

NYC hotels

 

Today's NY Times has a feature on a major hotel mogul who specializes in building economy-priced hotels on Manhattan side streets, where you can get clean rooms (albeit a bit smaller than in the big hotels) for decent rates. Traveling guys might want to look into this.

Welcome Shoreboy. Nice to know there is someone else in the neighborhood. I have hired travellers in NYC and most of them have been quite generous with their time. I have also gone to Philadelphia and had the same experience. While I usually hire for 2 hours, I have hired for overnights and had the escort come to my home. I have never gotten a no to that. I have also had NYC men come down to me, travelling for an hour each way for a two hour appointment. Most are willing to return.

 

Apart from the unfortunate example I cited, I have not had the feeling that I was in a revolving door to the bedrooms of these men. Even in this noted situation, it was a scheduling error and my issue with it was not the original error, it was the manner in which the error was handled.

 

My worst escort experiences have been while I was travelling, Las Vegas, and the escort treated the encounter like a repairman might consider a housecall. Of course Las Vegas also gave me the opportunity to meet Aaron Mark and SF introduced me to Steven Kessler, so I will continue to look for the gems when I am on the road.

A huge factor being forgotten when attacking the "revolving door" is that you don't realize the "prime time" affect. What is an escort to do if all clients want to hire between 6-9 pm? The rest of the day could be dead. The error of the escorts mentioned was how they handled the situation...not that they saw clients back to back.
