Did anyone watch the return of Leno tonight?

Will it be a hit or a miss?

I thought West did himself more harm than good with his so-called apology. Came across as terribly self centered and quite inarticulate. Even Leno seemed to be relieved to get him out of the chair.

I can't see myself watching it on a regular basis - only when there is nothing else worth watching in that time slot.

Kanye West was the Joe Wilson of the VMAs. He looked extremely stupid when he interrupted Taylor Swift and then even moreso when Beyonce won video of the year.

Ms. Knowles proved what a class act she is by having Taylor come up and letting her have her moment.

I like Jay but I was disappointed in his new show debut. Too early to say if it will be a hit or miss and I'll watch the rest of the week to see if it gets better.

Either that or her "PR People" thought it would be a very good move, which would be MY thinking!

Her Facial expression when sitting in the audience had a "should I laugh" quality to it! :D

It is getting boring when the "Real Person" shows on these so called "Celebrities" in PUBLIC and they do the rounds "apologizing".

Apologies in most cases are just about worthless after the deed was done! ;)

I didn't care for Jay Leno before and I won't watch him now. I tried out his new show last night and it was the same ole boring stuff. The only thing I like are his headlines and when he finds the dumbest people on earth to ask questions to. those are funny scenes.

I also agree that Kanye West looked even worse after last night's third apology. I hope he does what he suggested and takes time off to reflect. I'm sure he didn't realize the massive fan base Taylor Swift has and the onslaught must have been something for him the next day.

On a bigger note, having 5 hours of this type of programming on NBC is very disappointing. it's the dumbing down of America with yet more reality and talk instead of scripted drama or comedy. I know its cheaper, but the networks wonder why people are leaving them in massive numbers - they don't have good stuff to watch anymore.

Cancel it!

HORRIBLE!

I agree - the same old shit. I watched last night and I couldn't believe the very first show was sooo unfunny. They had 3 months and that's what he came up with!

I predict cancelled before November...if they are lucky.

If they are lucky, they will continue to be the late night leader. I like Jay Leno, but it was hard to see him in the new format. I will keep watching as I like the monologue and Headlines.

Little Tommy Cruise is the guest tonight. One wonders what meltdown he will go through next. It would only be worth watching if he took this opportunity to come out of his closet.

Not Impressed

I really like Leno but was not impressed with the show last night. Just didn't feel the same. But, when there's nothing better on the tube, I'll tune in and watch him.

But, I'll take a bad Leno over the best of Conan O'Brien. I watched the first O'Brien show and decided that the reruns of Perry Mason were more entertaining than him.

I'm with The Finger on that! CONAN has always Creeped me out!

As far as whether the 11:30 Crowd will tune in at 10 with other shows they are used to watching given up... Time Will Tell!

I guess I'm in the minority but I like the new Leno show. Had he continued to be exactly like the Tonight show I would have been disappointed that would have been the easy way out. Changing it up a bit is really refreshing.

Most likely this will be one of those shows that lasts 3 years maybe slightly longer. Though I doubt I will watch Leno every night.

I look at Conan as a watered down version of Letterman.

My sentiments, too.

I chose to view Mr. Leno's show on the 14th of September, but I was not too impressed because he's apparently retained almost a similar format as to his former "Tonight Show" albeit a completely new set, which, btw, I liked.

In conjunction with Mr. West's appearance, I thought that was a total WASTE! KW acted like a friggin' middle school boy who was completely out of control from his distasteful outburst.

He wasted his time by appearing on Jay Leno's show because he did not communicate; he had no eye contact with the interviewer; he could not verbalize his ideas or apology; he was an embarrassment to self, his peers, and to the interviewee!

I think I'll only view JL's Show if he has something or someone who is extraordinarily special.

Well, I have only seen the two monologues. Leno's new longer hair is a distraction- I don't like it. What happened to Smitty?

I did see a bit of the Tom Cruise segment, and his bicep sure looked nice.

Nothing to see here

I watched Tuesday's show, or at least the first 35 minutes before I gave up. I thought it was slow and flat, no excitement, no energy. The sequence with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz was dull -- Cameron was the only one to get a laugh out of it. Having them on video was a big mistake. Better to have a less-well-known celebrity live in the studio. The comedian who was given five minutes never connected with the audience, got one or two laughs, which is way under what he should have been doing. I thought the monolog was okay, not any better.

They had months to prepare for the launch of this show. I understand that some of it needs to be timely, to respond to what's going on today, but still, I think it's a half-hearted attempt to bring talk/comedy to prime time. I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone mid-season, replaced by another Law & Order or CIS spin-off.
