Porn vs Escorting

The thread (in the Male Strip Clubs Forum) about Joey Stefano made me remember something that has crossed my mind many times during my years of pursuing escorts and of watching porn. I have always been fascinated by the fact that many porn “stars” (actors) distain escorting. Matthew Rush comes immediately to mind. On numerous occasions he has publicly made the point that he is an “actor” NOT a “prostitute”. I have always found this attitude silly and ridiculous. If guys enter porn because of the opportunity it affords them to hone their acting skills the only person they are kidding is themselves. There is absolutely NO relationship between acting and appearing in porn. If guys enter porn because of the opportunity it affords them to make the big bucks again the only person they are kidding is themselves. After a guy’s initial few appearances in porn the bucks earned drops off dramatically. Now if a guy has the sense to use his porn “career” to advance his escorting career that makes sense yet really few seem to have the smarts to do this.

Now on this next point I am NOT absolutely certain that what I am about to say is true. It does, however, seem to me that porn is more likely to eat alive and eventually destroy the guys involved in it. Joey Stefano is just one of many examples. The flip side of the coin is that I see a lot of successful escorts still making hefty incomes in the thirties, forties, and even fifties. How many thirty, forty and fifty year olds do we see appearing in films from the major porn studios?

I know some guys doing porn that would never do escorting. Their view is that they are having sex with hot guys in porn and they couldn't have sex with just anyone which is a requirement to some degree of an escort. So I guess to some there is a difference.

Is it "disdain" from the porn models? Or is it frustration that they get approached by so many 'fans', waving Ben Franklins who assume that just because they get paid to have sex on-screen, they'll be equally obliging when the camera's not rolling? I've never thought there's any harm in approaching a porn model and asking, courteously and respectfully, if they ever escort or do 'private meetings'. But I also know from talking to guys in the porn biz, that 90+ per cent of the 'offers' they get are neither respectful or courteous and often won't take 'no' for an answer. So are you surprised there's a bit of a backlash from time to time?

 

I tend to view porn models and escorts as two 'professions' within the same (the 'sex') industry. Sure there's a lot of crossover between the two jobs, but there are plenty of escorts who don't make porn and plenty of porn models who don't escort as well. There are lots of 'personal trainers' who will escort/turn tricks from time to time, but are you going to assume from that all personal trainers are escorts? If so, I'll echo Morgan Freeman in the most recent Batman movie and wish you luck with that...

 

Because, despite the commonalities between the two jobs (escorting and porn modelling), there are also significant differences. An escort's job is to create an 'erotic' environment for the client from the moment the session begins, until he leaves with his (hopefully) well-earned payment. However, if you've been on a porn set, you'll know that the environment is often as 'un-erotic' as possible. The final product may be hot, but often the making of porn (like laws and sausages) is a long, tiring and often grim process. Moreover, in porn, the model is the centre of attention, while with a good escort it's the client that's the centre of attention - one reason you'll find the reviews of escorts who do porn are often less than stellar. There are other differences too (like the physical 'attractiveness' of your 'partner') but I think I've gone on long enough (if not too long) on the topic already...

I have seen Mathew's "acting." He was in a show where his main job was to get naked! I loved it though. I think he has a great future in roles wherein he is expected to get naked.

Matthew was in a play in Texas about a year ago. He also had a brief sojourn into the escort world. I believe he is now trying his hand at behind the camera work.

As for porn actors, I believe as they age, doing more behind the scenes producing and directing is an alternative career path for some rather than escorting.

There was a clerk at the late Gay Treasures porn emporium in New York who referred to porn as "infomercials" for the "actor's" porn business.
