Jerry Lewis' 44th annual telethon for Muscular Dystrophy this weekend reminded me of the heyday of telethons in the '50's. :)

Lake Wobegon (aka MSP) was host to many. I have fond memories of seeing the late Les Paul and Mary Ford in person in a huge WW 11 airplane hangar idled by no more WW 11.

Anybody else remember them? :)

Sure, I remember them. We'd pick up the phone and ask the local operator to connect us, and then pledge twenty five cents a week for a month or two.

Nowadays they just post their tin cups online, claiming poverty of some sort, or a need for this or that. Not so far back I gave a donation to some escort I never heard of who needed surgery of some sort. I hope he got it. In the old days you could never be sure where your money went or how it was spent. But nowadays it's all regulated. Even thank you notes are mandated if you send over $10. Pretty soon the folks on the streetcorners will be going online as well. Then we'll be looking back to those old days when someone accosted you in the parking lot or squeegeed your window for you. A little pixel dust can help a lot of people- just ask around here!

geez, is everybody so sensitive these days? The pixel dust I referred to was the successful raising of funds to help tide over the owner of the website until he found some work. Pixels were spread around, and, lo and behold, not one not two, but three jobs turned up for him. He's been so busy that he hasn't updated the pixel wall in days, so my donation just evaporated.

So, now that he's in the chips, we can turn to others needing help. I am sure there is no shortage of them. Just be sure not to donate to someone who is going to take a hike as soon as he gets the dough. ...the midnight train to Georgia...And always, always, insist on knowing where the money is going. You don't want to support some guy who is just going to spend your money having the fun that you can't afford to have!

I told him that if he wanted tongue with the kiss that he had to lean over.

...And like the gentleman he is; He did!

His tongue is like sandpaper, so be careful what you ask for.

In reality, congratulations for getting through this difficult time.

May many more jobs come your way.
