I voted in the coverboy poll and was sent an e-mail to confirm. The e-mail said I had to "*click* on the link below to register" my vote - but there was no link...anyone else experience this?

By the way...Jimmy from Philly gets my vote....what a hottie!!

Sorry, I have no idea what you mean....how do I do this...I am not the most computer literate person around...

I tried voting for a Coverboy 2 days ago. I got the message that I'd be receiving a confirming e-mail. However, that hasn't showed up. Is it possible to do some debugging on this feature or perhaps make it a little more usable?

When you are asked for your email address, make certain that you type it exact and correct.

It's like dialing a phone number. If you are one number off, you won't get connected.

If you submit your email address with the SLIGHTEST mistake, it will not go through.

When you vote, you should get confirmation and all the doo-dah within 10 seconds. If you don't -- then, I am so so sorry, but it becomes a BCC problem.

What is a BCC problem?

BCC = between the computer and the chair

I hope that is not the issue here because we really want things to be easy for you.. :-)

I usually refer to BCC as a "loose nut on the keyboard". ;-)

However, I have tried a second time and verified that my e-mail address was correct before sending. Still no response. Perhaps there is a quirk in my computer or with the hotmail system. (Hotmail is certainly not flawless or perhaps the response was automatically "assumed" to be junk mail and was blocked.) I only added to this thread thinking it might be a more wide-spread problem.

Thanks for your response and perhaps I'll try again using another e-mail address.

I know that I am going to be patted on the head and told to leave it to the big boys since I am an aol user. However, I have tried several times to vote in this month's coverman election and every time that I do I am given a screen that says something about this vote having been called off because it contained adult and/or illegal material.

We're filtering out AOL users? COOL!

I'm suspecting that wasn't the intent.

(Not the pat on the head you were expecting, I'll bet ;-))

Yes, actually it was. The pat on the head like to that of the computer shop employee who smiles at you and "pats you on the head" and sends you "off to be without supper" when he discovers that the computer you have at home doesn't have enough memory to play any of the games in his store. (Though not as condescending about it as some, thanks Deej!)

<chuckle>

I know that condescending attitude all too well. There are some tech support operators who would be every bit as effective at their jobs if they'd go ahead and add the words "you moron" to the end of everything they say. ;-)

I used to refer to it as the "is there gas in the car ma'am?" syndrome.

Now that you've reported the issue, Hoo will investigate.

I haven't tried to vote yet this afternoon, but Hoo or Daddy may have already fixed it because L (my beloved) tells me that he voted today at around lunchtime on this very computer and aol linkup. I hope he did it on his own aol account, actually, have to kill the blighter if he's wasted my vote. Types of men which appeal to us personally is one area we definitely disagree on. ;-)
