I think Sanjaya and Blogojevich should have a Bad Hair-Off!

Definitely the "Swedish Idol" seems MUCH more fun than the American version!!

Maybe you could move to Sweden and live happily ever after...

In last week's episode, they showed the visits to their hometown. I found it interesting, but not surprising, that no mention was made of Kris' wife, who was present in the video wherever he went.

From Brit pop star Robbie William's blog:

"Adam Lambert is my personal bestest Pop star right now…..If you haven't been watching American Idol check him out… he's the real deal in fact if there was a Singing Olympics and the US where sending Michael Buble and Adam Lambert i wouldn't even try out for the UK team."

Bill O'Reilly is saying that it is a Christian versus Gay contest, and other media say that Adam was publicly introducing his boyfriend at a restaurant last weekend. Here's a pic of the guy, acc. to Perez Hilton:]

Is the contest between Adam and Kris this week really a red state-blue state affair? The Daily News has some politicians who think so:

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/americanidol/2009/05/19/2009-05-19_lambert_vs_allen_american_idol_finale.html

It occured to me the week it was announced that Adam, Kris, & Danny were the final three, that if Danny or Kris were voted off, their respective voting pool, or at least a large chunck of it, may be 'the Christian' voting contingency. Both have made reference to their church backgrounds and videos of them performing in their churches have made the rounds. Danny, I think more so than Kris, was very forthcoming re: his church ties and being the choir/music director.

That being said, I think it reasonable to assume that a large portion of Danny's voters/fans will now vote for Kris as a matter of course to support the more 'christian' of the two. I think it very likely that Kris could indeed top Adam. (yes, pun intended! ;) I'd like to see either one of them topping the other! ;)

Looking forward to seeing them both, as I think both are musically, the most gifted/talented.

Too bad that Robbie Williams didn't realize that Michael Buble is CANADIAN, from Burnaby, B.C. (suburb of Vancouver), not American.

The Show Down

Last night Adam and Kris had to sing 3 songs. The first was a redo of one of their favorites from this season. The second was a song selected by AI creator Simon Fuller, and the third was a ballad co-written by AI judge Kara DioGuardi called "No Boundaries".

Personally, I enjoyed songs 1 and 2. Both did an amazing job, however, the 3rd and final song of the season, imo, was a poor choice. Both finalists had to sing "No Boundaries". The song just didn't fit their style. However, how do the judges criticize a song choice written by one of the judges.

Hard to say if there was a clear winner. Simon felt Kris took the 1st round and Adam the 2nd. No comment on the 3rd.

Should be a very exciting season finale.

If you vote on the whole package Adam should win and last nights performances did nothing to change that.

I am not a fan of reprising songs, I think David Cook did the right thing last year to not reprise any songs. I wish Adam had not reprised Mad World because it was the moment of the season and should have let it be just that. Nothing he did last night would have captured the same moment.

Kris was very credible last night and if he wins he is not a bad choice just not the right choice. I still think I would have rather had Danny vs Adam, maybe even Matt vs Adam but I think the performances of the season were a great success. This will be the best tour because there will be a lot of great singing and Adam should put on quite a show.

I loved Carrie Underwood's performance to close the show.

That said we need to hear longer performances and less antics by the judges. I think they were unprofessional on several of the shows and they need to stop being so physical with each other. Say your piece and move on. Simon and Paula are a big part of the show but it was too much about them and not enough performance value.

Need to do something different for signature song for final performance. Both performers looked uncomfortable singing it onstage. They looked like they said "What the hell do I do with this piece of garbage."

Kris Allen did indeed top Adam Lambert tonight (at least on stage) but Lambert will have the bigger career, IMHO.

I never saw one show all the way through and watched a handful of the results show for the final ten minutes, but I can only say I think Adam not winning is "backlash". Against what, I don't know. Kris seems very bland and boring to me.

The same group that put Bush into the White House for two terms made Kris the latest American Idol - middle American religious fanatics who could not stand to see a man who was perceived to be gay win the title. Danny's votes mostly went to Kris.

Homophobia is alive and well in the great U.S. of A.

I'm pissed because I really wanted Adam to win and in my opinion he is definitely the greater talent.

Did you notice that Simon didn't even clap at the end, unlike the other three judges, but just sat there looking as pissed off as I feel.

On the brighter side however, given a choice, Kris is the one I would pick to take to bed.

I agree, and the guyliner and painted nails didn't help him!

While I agree that Adam is the better singer, his music style is not pop or mainstream. And the voters are looking for a pop star. Adam would be more rock glam which is not mainstream. Based on what I heard, I'd be more likely to buy a Kris Allen single than I would an Adam Lambert single or album. In fact I already have. The only AI single I bought this season on iTunes was Kris Allen's version of "Heartless". Also the one week when iTunes accidentally posted the Idol songs in the top purchases listing, Kris was outselling the others even then. Apple since pulled the Idol those songs from the rankings. But Adam is certainly more entertaining on television. I really don't think it was an anti-gay vote.
