Since every policy differs, you need to contact your insurance carrier directly. Most health insurance companies won't pay for Viagra (Levitra, Cialis, etc.), since the medication is not needed to sustain a person's health (well, some would argue it's needed for one's mental health). This is rather analogous to why most insurance companies won't pay for purely cosmetic surgery (which wouldn't include repairing damage from an accident or health problem). I would be especially surprised to hear if an insurance company would pay for a medication prescribed by a physician who hasn't even physically evaluated you as to whether you need the medication or not.

Hi guys

If I order from an online pharmacy with a free MD consultation provided by them, can I submit the receipt for reimbursement to my insurance company for whatever they would cover?

Curious what other guys have done and others' experiences.

THANKS

To be honest with you 99% of all insurance plans with rx benefits exclude ED drugs

Some companies do pay for limited amounts but not sure they would pay with online purchase as they usual pay the pharmacy a discounted rate. Can't hurt to submit it.

Most health plans or the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) they contract with have their formularies on their web site. If a drug is on the formulary they usually cover it, if not they don't. If your health plan does cover Viagra, then you might get reimburesed if the pharmacy is located in the US and has a recognized NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) number. There are plans that cover foreign pharmacies, but you would have to check with your plan to determine whether it is one of them. If you have a flexible benefits plan you might be able to be reimbursed through them, but again they would most likely not reimburse if the pharmacy does not have an NABP number.
