I am going to continue to support Hoo Boy's earlier decision. The controversial post was a joke, fine. Ethan actually does seem bright and sometimes makes good points (he also has that massive dick). But in my experience what has made the most trouble on all boards are people with too much time on their hands who just can't stop commenting on every single post whether it really involves them or not, and who after a time, lose control of the tone and content of their posts. Such a person is acting out issues none of us can know about. They wreck discussions.

 

In my opinion Ethan has just gone too far, repeating himself endlessly, sometimes using poor or peculiar reasoning, occasionally willfully misreading others, and in an obsessive-compulsive way jumping in whether he had anything of interest to say or not.

 

He is young, I bet he's a nice guy, I think he's bright, I have no problem with his posting when it's relevant.

 

But if he doesn't have an internal censor that stops the excessive posting; if he has a personal problem which has led him to over post here as though an anonymous message board can make him feel better in some way; if he has some unresolved issues sexually (I thought they began to emerge in the "backlash" thread) that make it hard for him to contribute in more than a rigid truculent manner, then he needs some help.

 

Either he should take a break of a few weeks, or be moderated. Sometimes having made your point once or twice in a thread, you just have to move on. Sometimes you have to mark out posters who offend or attack you and simply don't read them (I saw that the idiot Truth teller had responded to a post of mine but skipped the response, as I will skip most of what he and his posse post). And no poster here dare look to others for approval or to bolster their self esteem -- and I have to say I get that vibe from Ethan.

 

Anyway in all my time here, which goes back a ways and involves a lot of controversies I have never seen Hoo or any of his moderators behave in a feckless or irresponsible way. They may make mistakes and change course but I appreciate what they've done and I think in the past their instincts have been right, even if they haven't always been forthcoming or persuasive in their reasoning.

It's almost as astonishing as 7Zach's post in the "Who's (Hoo's) in Charge here?" thread in which 7Zach - after spending a full week following Ethan around to every thread he could find to tell him how disgusting, ugly, vile, and putrid-looking he was - piously decried the negativity and personal attacks that are ruining the board.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE TO THE SELF-RIGHTEOUS: If you're itching to write a sermon about how terrible Negativity is, and how horrible and destructive personal attacks are, try to wait at least a week after you last wrote about how someone is an ugly, dripping, diseased cunt who turns your stomach before posting your sermon.
