There have been many posts on Numbers, and a few on Spotlight and Craig's List. Can anyone give me the address of these last two? As an infrequent visitor to LA, I'd like to check them out as I am unfamiliar with them. Thanks in advance.

Hi Max,The spotlight room is in Hollywood at the corner of Selma and Cahuenga-1 block south of hollywood Blvd(1601-I think-best check for your self)THEY DO HAVE A WEBPAGE!!!(I can hear all the lA reg's giggling in the background as I type this)but I cannot find it(might be a blessing)Anyway I am a regular visitor and I will tell you it is really hit or miss(more snickering from the gallery)

Craigs list are web sites for different cities-do a google and select your city.

I know that Big Guy likes a walk on the wild side too but I did tell him at the recent LA Gathering that I drove by this place for years on my way to work with my car doors always locked. Any LA bar that opens at 6am is very suspect and this one usually had a real group of seedy people hanging around outside at 7am.

Since I`ve never been inside maybe the LA group should do a walk thru sometime. There should be safety in numbers -no pun intended.

Thanks to all for information and responses. Is Hunters (Santa Monica and Gardner/Vista) still alive?

RE: etc and Craig's List

I actually went to the spotlight two weeks ago looking for bigguy, never found him, the place is not scary(not pretty either! lol )

the area around there has really cleaned up, in fact one block west of the spotlight are two of the hotter straight clubs and restuarants in L.A.(you know they must be trendy, they don't put their name or address on the building, you have to know where they are and then look for a valet guy standing outside a unmarked entrance!) lol

the area was filled with 20 somethings walking around looking for the bars, not scary at all. but then again i walk around Rio at two in the morning!

For a lot of info on Craig's List, read this thread:

I've been trying to setup something for tonight, have gotten a couple good responses. It often takes patientce, but it's pretty good when it works (especially if you're looking for a cute guy next door type to come to you).

Spotlight, LA...

Now that I've been to Spotlight myself, several times, I wanted to post about it for those wondering... It's at the corner of Selma and Cahuenga, Sunset is a block or so further south I think... Very easy to get to, east of WeHo, east of Highland even, just go until you hit Cahuenga, then down (from HWD BLVD) or up (from SMB) to Selma. Parking isn't great, but there's usually a spot on the street on Highland or Selma, and the meters are only 'till 6. There seems to always be people around, and Cahuenga is a busy street, so I don't think safety is a big concern. There are sometimes people out front that aren't doing all that well but they keep to themselves.

I did hire out of Spotlight on one visit, it's not usually much of a selection, sometimes there are OK looking guys (once in a great while I think you could strike gold...), many seem to be using something or another, they're relatively cheap and there are cheap motels very close by. Not sure I'd recommend it for hiring at all, but it is at least a safer way to meet the guys that used to be on the street, I'd say. (I still take a passing interest in the streets when I'm in the area, but there's practically nothing compared even to back when I was cruising...) Spotlight is very different from Numbers... At Numbers only some of the guys are using, most are generally better looking, have better bodies (and take better care of themselves), and are more shy. On the other hand, you get a much wider variety at Spotlight, including the, um, inter-gendered... :p

The reason I've gone back is that it's actually a cool place. Maybe the introduction by BGP and friends helped, but it's a very friendly atmosphere, the regulars (not talking hustlers) seem like great people, and at least two bartenders are friendly too, Benji and Lone Star. And Benji's often nicer to look at then anybody working the place... :)

I've never hung out at bars, Spotlight and Numbers (which may not count) are the first Gay bars I'd been in at all. Numbers is not a place I'd hang out, Tony (the owner) is nice, but I'm not that enthusiastic about the food and *everything* (hehe) is expensive. Spotlight doesn't even have peanuts food-wise, but the drinks are well mixed and reasonably priced, and I like the atmosphere. There is also the plus, like Numbers, that I don't think one has to worry about being seen there because anybody else there is, after all, there. I'm just sorry I didn't think to go there to watch the gubernatorial or democratic debate, can't think of a more entertaining (or appropriate) setting to watch a political debate in! :+

The owner of Spotlight, Don Samuels, is an extremely nice and very friendly person. He usually sits at one end of the bar quietly drinking with a couple of his regular customers. I've been there more than once when Don has bought a round of drinks for everyone in the bar. (If I saw a New York City bar owner do that, I'd fall off my chair in surprise.) Anyone visiting Spotlight for the first time should not hesitate to introduce themselves to Don.

Another nice thing I've noticed at this bar is that when a customer has had too much to drink, the staff is generally very helpful in calling a cab and assisting the customer in making sure he gets started on his way home safely.

RE: Los Angeles - Spotlight

Anybody do anything interesting lately? Want to bring this forum back to life (and while I'm at it clear that Jason Land BS from the most recent thread area).

I was in the general area of Hollywood recently and figured I'd stop by Spotlight for a drink, but Parking was pretty bad... circled the place a couple times, there were some good looking guys standing around out there! Eventually I gave up (had already had my 'fun' for the evening), though I could have just paid $5 to park up the street. But what I could see outside looked better then what I've usually seen inside so far, I wish I'd gone in for a better look.

With SMB all but dead most of the time even if you wanted to pick up off the street, Spotlight's about it if you don't want to upgrade to guys at Numbers, in my experience lately anyway. Everybody else see this too, or have a different experience??

So trade means he allows head? I've tried to say hello to him but you're right, he's got attitude. I think it's hot. :p You happen to know his name and how I should approach this? He may be old news but he's new to me.

Is the other hot guy still working there? Not sure of his name, maybe Owen? BigGuyfromPasadena referred to him as the one with the huge uc tool. Saw him the last time I was there about 3 months ago regret I didnt offer him a few bucks and a good time. Will be back in Nov. would love to run into him at the bar.

On Sunday November 9th, the Spotlight is celebrating it's 40th anniversary... Should be a hoot.... Festivities start at 4:00pm with a buffet - a small door charge ($5.00) gets you the buffet and a drink from the bar..

hope to see you there!
