Yes the Blvd is in a sad state. But it still has it's moments. With the construction over, I have noticed the action picking up some. Santa Monica & Orange is scumbag central! Santa Monica & Vine seems to be a goldmine at times. Has anyone checked out the blond boy on the roller blades? Looks like he just stepped out of a C.K. ad ! That boy gives one hell of a blow job! Thanks. Here in Dallas we have the same type of "problem", although I don't think they (Vice) hit the "main street" weekly.

 

While Vice being on the streets present a problem, it is also helpful. A few years back they backed completely off and, without having to worry about the police, the hustlers and female prostitutes took over the street. They knocked on your car window when you were stopped at red lights. They continuously hounded you while you walked down the street. Santa Monica Bl is beginning to look good again. Construction is almost complete and I for one am hoping the street kids come back. Someone mentioned the Spotlight Club and I must say that the onetime I was there it was really dicey. As for Numbers it is fading fast. I don't know. I must be in a different Hollywood. I travel up to the area a few times per month (at least) and am usually there during the days and time you mention. I have seen very few guys working and the one or two that are there look pretty scary. I looking more for the twinks or jock types not the older drugged out, run down "lost in streets" guys.

Not to sound like a snob or anything, but I never worked the streets myself. This could be a new discussion, but I think that as an Escort, it's different than being a street hustler.

 

The closest I've ever come to the streets was working Numbers when it was up on Sunset, but that didn't work too well. I'd end up going home with one of the waiters or one of other 'rentboys!' Go figure!

 

I checked out Hunter's, but I felt like I was being marked down.

The West Hollywood "police force" consists of the LA County sheriff's department and they downplay any type of prostitution type vice crimes for robberies, muggings, and more serious crimes. The actually City of Los Angeles police force is pretty gruesome and to be avoided. They have taken to enticing men from West Hollywood area bars down a few block south towards Melrose where it is their jurisdiction so they can arrest them for indecent exposure, public sex, solicitation, etc. When you are east of highland, you are in the jurisdiction of the city so bear that in mind. The entire construction is done and it is very easy to traverse one end of Santa Monica Boulevard through West Hollywood and Hollywood; however entire blocks still show the ravages of business being shuttered and the street trade is no different.

 

West Hollywood itself is, actually, pretty safe but in any of these situations, you should keep your wallet locked in your glove box and only carry around the cash you absolutely need, with no jewelry. I go bike riding on the streets frequently, more so now that the weather is really excellent for it, and often see boys around who may or may not be available. Often, they very much have the look of trade and having had friends in San Francisco who befriended these guys from Polk and Larkins streets, I believe I can understand the appeal of a "hustler" versus an "escort." I would park at Yukon Mining Company and walk 5 - 6 blocks east and then walk back on the opposite side and if that produces no results, go 5 - 6 blocks west. You can always bring your boy back to the Yukon and feed him soup while you decide where or if to proceed.

 

Silverlake, to my knowledge, and I asked several former porn stars and escorts who are in the area, has no real street trade to speak of, at least not presently according to these sources. Perhaps that is where they moved when the Boulevard was being redone. However, the neighbors and neighborhood association in that area are still very much against public sex and public displays and I am sure the police commander in the area reflects the district's concerns.

I like to have outdoor sex -- especially if I am getting paid for it. Ritchie, you must have better vision than I do. I often see a number of men with their I Books, ThinkPads, etc. walking out of the Starbucks on Santa Monica when I go there with the baby escorts to talk about their boy troubles.
