I recently was in Sao Paulo and met a guy who's English is excellent - hairy and preppy and rather European for a Brazilian (big blue eyes). Anyway his email is Hfpires@yahoo.com and he responds in English. He is very hungry for tourists - and work, period (as all escort will tell you there). Write him, tell him your plans - no harm nothing to lose, he'll send pics, and he's much younger looking in person that in the pic he sent me. I bet he'd walk from SP to Rio to show a visitor around and translate for them.

If you are going to Rio for the first time and are traveling alone, a guide might be helpful if you are not adventuresome. If you are traveling with a friend, you do not need a guide. Simply use the material on this site for information concerning things you want to do in Rio. Two people, together, should be able to plan an interesting tour of Rio without the need of a guide.

Rio can be dangerous if you are careless or wander into the wrong neighborhood or if you go out very late alone at night. If you use your wits and can understand the material available in the search area, you will have a grand time in Rio.

Sometimes guides can be a lot of fun but most of the time you are stuck to a schedule that fits the guide rather than what fits you.

I've had guides with me in Rio but not exclusively. When I have wanted to go to certain areas and places and wanted company, I've hired guides.

Unfortunately, my guides in Rio are no longer doing this.

Two years ago, a friend of mine hired Danilo (a non escort) but a knowledgeable and personable current young 19 or 20yr old from Sao Paulo to come to Rio to be his guide. Danilo did this and received stellar comments from my friend.

Send me a private e for Danilo's address if you're interested; you can write to him personally.

There is a new site that is featured at MadeinBrazil (a blog) that has an ad which you might wish to consult regarding this type of service from a gay tour agency; they have guides, but I don't know how much history and culture you can get through them; that is something that you would have to inquire.

Again, if interested, send me a private e.

Read selected guides at this site as well as http://www.gaytravelbrazil or http://www.gaybraziltravel.com for additional and other timely guidelines.

Regarding the above web address-- I always get the last two words confused!

I used gaytravelbrazil.com last year and recommend it for first time visitors in particular. We all owe trilingual a debt of gratitude for the wealth of information he has provided us and the work he put into creating this South America forum.

You're right Lucky.

Back in the day, there were a lot of people contributing to this forum....Tomcal, Gulliver, SF traveler, Beguiled traveler, et al.

But is was Tri who organized it all into the FAQS section.

Thank to Tri and the others, I found a wonderful home away from home and made some great Brasilian friends that I love to visit each year.

I have also used Danilo 3 times on Sao Paulo and Rio trips. Actually he is waiting for me in Rio now, since I missed my connection and will be arriving a day late. Should see him tomorrow and will be using his services again for a full week. Keep in mind he is a Guide and interpreter, NOT an Escort for sex.

yep, i made it down to rio, and had a great time, sometimes just letting the day play out is the way to go.

on my first night to club point 202 i met this tall hunk of a man called Rui, the next day we met on the beach, rui showed me the city, his number is 95489390, he tought me how to rent the chair for the beach what the beach food was, then took me to see christ statue on the hill.

that night after i went to 117 he took me out for a night cap to some street party in the hood. it was the most fun, a true taste of the city, then we headed over to the street party over by the santa teresa

rui tuned out to be a great guide, had a lot of fun with him.

btw, he was also great sex, i love my men over 6'3"

Tealady, more than likely you went to Lapa which is an area near the beautiful arches on which the tram runs to get to Santa Teresa. I went once: the streets and sidewalks were packed with hundreds of people, vendors, and merry-makers in general.

Ernani, my guide at the time, took me all over the place which I enjoyed but was ambivalent walking in the street and having to maneuver carefully in order not to fall or to run into others.

Because I enjoyed the ambience so much, I yearn to return on my next trip, but if I do, I want to sit and dine and drink and go into some of the gay clubs to get a "taste" of this. Ernani stated that persons with money (or the middle class) come to the area on Saturday; there is a mixture of persons on Fridays.

Man, in my typing this, my mind vividly recounts this experience which I definitely want to do again. Perhaps, Rui, Mr. 6'3 will/can be my guide.

Tea...,please read my request in another thread which you wrote. I'd appreciate your honoring the request.
