I just returned from 2 weeks in Brazil and Argentina, dividing my time between Rio, BsAs and SP. I had been to Brazil before and took along a friend who didn't believe that what I was telling him about the Saunas was true....now he's a true believer and is ready to go back! I also want to add that if you spend some time going through the archives and reading all the posts in this section, there's no reason not to be fully prepared for the journey. Trilingual and some of the other posters have done us a great service with all the information there is here and really adds to your enjoyment of the trip. I had a chance to meet Trilingual at Maxims in Rio and thank him personally....his great information makes everything easier.

While in Rio, I visited Estacion and Club 117. I never made it to Rogers because I thought it was closing. I prefer 117 because it's larger, air conditioned and in my opinion, the boys are hotter. Don't get me wrong, I had a some hot times at Estacion, but it's so uncomfortably hot in the public rooms that it detracted from my enjoyment. In both places, I found the people (both boys and clients) very friendly. I don't speak any portugese (except for phrases I copied down from the archives on this site) but I was always able to make myself understood and there seemed to be someone around who spoke English to translate. A couple of times, I ran into fellow M4Mers and we all helped each other. Both my friend and I ran into a couple of situations where the boys were asking for more than 50 reals, but as soon as we said 'no' they backed off and agreed on 50. As has been previously posted, if you make it clear about what you are looking for and what you will pay, you will get what you want. Additionally, regarding threesomes, I agree with the advise given in the previous posts. Let the boy you like pick the third, subject to your agreement, and go for it.....most these boys identify themselves as straight and while they'll do anything with you privately, when the third is added, that's when they can have a problems because they prefer not to have sex with each other, so if you let the boys chose, you won't have a problem. I found this out the hard way the first time I did it, but since then, by letting them chose, it's been no problem. We also hired Ernani to show us the gay scene in Rio. I had met Ernani previously in the States, as an escort. Ernani is a great guy and so much fun to be with. Because of the days we were in Rio, we missed the Samba Schools so Ernani took us to Plataforma, which is a show that gives examples of all the different kinds of dances and music from all the different regions in Brazil. We were amazed at what a fun, professional show it was and not your typical tourist show. I would recommend it....the cost for the show only is 100Rs (about $30, but you get your money's worth). Ernani showed us around and we met some of his friends along the way we really enjoyed our time with him. Since he works during the day, he put us in touch with a friend of his, who spoke perfect English, for private touring. Also, at Trilingual's suggestion we visited Confeitaria Colombo in Downtown Rio. It is a very old (100 years +)but well kept restaurant and confectioner....very Belle Epoque. We had an excellent buffet lunch on the second floor which overlooks the entire place for less than $10. One last restaurant recommendation, is Marius, which is an upscale version of the typical Brazilian barbeque restaurants. There are 2 of them next to each other in Leme. One is meat and one is fish. Great food....more than you can possibly eat....for about $15.

Moving on to Buenos Aires....my friend was very nervous about safety and as has been previously stated, there is no cause for concern. We walked around the streets at 1:30AM and felt perfectly safe. BsAs is so unlike other South American cities....sort of a cross between NYC and Paris...great food, architecture, history and beautiful people. There was so much to see in BsAs that we focused more on sightseeing than sex....we needed a rest after Rio. The key to our enjoyment of the City was Roberto. He recommended the new Sofitel Buenos Aires which had an internet special of $140 per nite. The hotel has been open for 3 weeks and is like a Ritz Carlton. It is on a residental side street, that looks like any side street in Paris, and in easy walking or cab ride distance to anything you want to do. We loved the hotel. Roberto met us upon arrival and walked us around our area and gave us a great orientation. His knowledge of the city, the history and architecture is limitless. He told us about a magnificent collection of silver in a museum around the corner from our hotel, which isn't on any tour and really worthwhile. He showed us the gay life in town, made phone calls for escorts, recommended estanzias out of town....anything we could possibly need. I would not recommend a visit to BsAs without Roberto. As far as the boys go, we visited Status Models, which was a disappointment. They had told Roberto that there would be at least 10 guys there and there were only 3. While the place was clean and in a nice apt. building, but it a little too sanitized for me....this was my first experience in, what I guess you could call, a whorehouse and I didn't find it very sexual or sensual...my friend liked it better than me, so to each his own. Prices range from 70 pesos for a half hour to 100 pesos for an hour ($20-$33). Two other notes: the food in BsAs is world class (expecially the beef, wine & italian food). We never had a bad meal and even in the best restaurants it's hard to spend $20 for a meal with wine, when a filet mignon for 2 is about $8. The other note is that it's a shoppers paradise. My friend is a major shopper and did serious damage at Casa Lopez, the finest leather store in town, not to mention clothing stores, etc.

After 4 days in BsAs (Roberto even came to our hotel to wish us Bon Voyage...he's a classy guy) we headed for Sao Paulo. I could have used another day or 2 in BsAs because one day we went out of town to an Estanzia. Artur picked us up at the airport, took us to our hotel and then took us out on the town, so we could see the gay life in Sao Paulo. HB's review of Artur says it all...he's a fun guy, great knowledge of the city and a pleasure to be with. He took us to a fun restaurant that is 'in' now called Spot, which we enjoyed and then we hit some bars and showed us around the city. We were tired from our flight so we ended our visit early, but Artur was always available to us by phone. While in Rio, I kept telling me friend that if you like these saunas wait until you get to Lagoa, the sauna of saunas! I'm not going to repeat all that's been written about the place, except to say that it's all true. Hot guys, friendly atmosphere, spacious and less pressured than the Rio saunas. The locals come there not always for sex, but as a social thing. One night we were there was karaoke night and it was fun to watch the boys and the locals sing. As far as I'm concerned, Lagoa is the reason to go to Sao Paulo. Again, we met several M4Mers there as well as locals who spoke English and met us again the second night. On the second night, we had to catch our midnight flight and it was really hard to leave.

My friend and I are now back in the States for 2 days and all we can think about is when are we going back!

RE: Tales from Rio, BsAs, & Sao Paulo

Billsboy4-- your account of your travels was really refreshing; I've been to Brasil for a short time, but a good friend and I are going during Carnaval of '03. Every time I read short vignettes on this particular forum-- I find more and more information to use and incorporate.

I'm glad to know that Ernani has a friend who can be of some assistance, too. When I was in Rio in October of last year, I got to see Ernani who took me to (I guess...) the old part of town on a Friday night to show me the architecture and the vibrance of the people. Because I am adverse to riding on the back of motorcycles (although it can be quite sensual with the RIGHT person, and Ernani fits this description), I took a taxi while Ernani followed us only later to lead the taxi driver. I had a fun time but wanted to get together with "Mr. Honcho" himself more. Ernani took this in stride...

Again, obrigado! Perhaps we'll meet one of these days in the land of the cariocas or Paulistas... AXiom

RE: Tales from Rio

Billsboy4 and Axiom... thanks for the praises. You both make me blush, so that, I´m lost for words. I´m glad I could, in a certain way, spend time with you in my wonderful city after I met you in California. I´m proud of my city and I really enjoy to show it to visitors, especially first timers. I even have some surprises for those who have been here before (and I don´t mean my big tool)... Keep coming here and I hope I can help you to have good times again. .........................As for Billsboy4, I have to thank him for being kind of my counselour advicing me how to tell my future boyfriend I am a Professional Whore without shocking him. He still thinks I´m a virgin. (Oh, life of prostitution is not easy :+ )

> "Who is this bitter queen?";(

Just ignore "the evil, envious bitch"! She's been polluting this forum since August or September of last year. She is jealous of anyone who has a MIND and who has had positive experiences as a traveler to Brasil; she attempted to denegrate Ernani but to no avail; she does not intimidate me under any circumstances, and Tri manages his own against this very SAD miscreant.

At one point she asked about P.V. or Aculpulco in Mexico; NO ONE responded.

After that she was suppose to have gone to Sao Paulo and reported back that she had a fabulous time. The poor troll encouraged me to respond to her venom this time, but NEVER AGAIN! I'd encourage others, as they've done in the past, including I-- in terms of NOT RESPONDING to Iamnot..., a man who has an abysmal self-esteem.

Hi, Billsboy --

Glad you had such a good time on your trip, and that your friend got over his shpielkes about safety in Rio/B.A. While there is crime in both cities, it doesn't often affect tourists and the area you stayed in B.A. is about as dangerous as the Upper East Side or Bel Air. . .

As for Casa Lopez, I oughta charge them a commission! Your friend is at least the second M4Mer whose cleaned them out while visiting B.A.!
