No, I have not forgotten about Bruno Gaucho, but in the archives I have a question which did not receive the information sought. The query was: Where is Bruno? I emailed and received one "general" response without specific information. But since I will not be returning to Brazil until 2003, I shall not give much thought to Mr. Gaucho; I saw and had other men who were as gorgeous if not more... And this is not meant in any demeaning manner. But thanks for asking!

Lucky, do you know (SPECIFICALLY) where he is in terms of contact?

As of this date he has NOT obtained the necessary visa; it's not as simple in getting one on that end as it is for our getting one.

When I procured my visa, it only took a little under an hour, and because I live some distance from San Francisco (two and one half hours away) and would be leaving the country within three days of my applying, I requested that an exception be made; sure enough one was made for me!

My visa to Brazil is good for five whole years!

This is steering the topic entirely away from Costa Rica, so let's stop this here. However, Bruno is still keeping appointments for full-day/weekend engagements in Rio. He's listed in SP on http://www.olimpos.com.br (I don't know for sure, but there must have been some family problem that called him away from Rio. I believe Bruno's family lives in a large city about an hour away from SP.) He may be hesitant about responding to foreigners at this point in part because of his limited English and in part because he apparently got burned by one of our less popular readers.

:7 hey, i've been to costa rica a few times and it's a great country.

san jose is fun, but haven't had any male experiences there, it's always just a lay over before flying out. but go to quepos/manual antonio area. several gay hotels, i'd recommend casa blanca. it has nude sunbathing after the staff leaves at 3. a nude beach about a 15 min walk and a very gay friendly area. the country, besides san jose is very old world, not very sophisticated, if you want the the big hotel chains you'd want the northwest area, flammingo. but the streets are safe and they feel they are the "americans" of the latin world. any questions, let me know.

Have been to Costa Rica about 15 times

Have always met one or more beautifull boys each day in downtown San Jose. The National Park and Calle Central are easy places to meet people. Some say 70% of the men are bi-sexual and from my experience very few men are ever hostile from friendly advances (rare for a latin country).

People are well educated (97% literacy - Ca has about 80%) cradle to grave healthcare for most everyone (only about 80% of the people in CA have Healthcare) and a retirement system similar to our Social Security. Most Doctors are trained in Mexico or the US.

Not speaking Spanish is rarely a problem, although a little goes a long way. Average income is probably around $300 a month, although I never have met a native born Coata Rican who would consider themselves poor. Housing and food are cheap.

In the last few years many new bars have opened and the "gay" population has come a littel "out of the closet". As the locals come out of the closet a little represive reaction has also taken place.

For sex I would recommend several of the baths in downtown San Jose, one (near the Holiday Inn - same block) has over 1,000 locals going through it some days. There are mostly free and a few discreet rent boys and men there. Going rate about 5000 colones ($15 to $20 US). Even with no-pay guys, giving them Cab money to get home would be nice as many buses do not run to the suburbs after certain hours.

There is certain documented level of violence against gay men from straight boy hookers - but usually around disrespect or drugs - so be carefull.

As with Brazil, your hotel can take the card and ID for anyone you bring to your room.

There is a new taskforce in San Jose cracking down on underage prostitution so best to check someone identity card to be sure they are 18 (my rule). If no card, no sex (unless you are at the baths).

Manuel Antonio is beautifull/relaxing/spiritual/fun but there is less sex going on there since few Costa Ricans can afford to go there and there no schools/colleges or professional jobs there.

Tri, out of my inordinate curiosity--I thought I'd go to this site this morning. I went to it only to be iformed that the server could not be found. Could you go to it on your computer to see if there is a difference? My blasted net services have been malfunctioning lately. Thanks!

Nice to see Costa Rica get some attention. The hotels on the Pacific in the Quepos/ Manual Antonio area look great, with good prices even for the high season. Any other particular hotel recommendations on the Pacific coast?
