It is with great happiness, joy and excitement to announce that I will for sure be moving to Chicago in February! I will be packing up and leaving at the end of the first week in February. I am estimating that towards the end of February I should be set up in an apt either in the Ukraine Village or Humbolt (sp) Park area and hopefully will be able to host as well as travel within Chicago proper. This is something I have hoping for for quite some time and even put my Madonna concert traveling and a few other trips on hold to be able to do. The Madonna concerts being the biggest sacrifice lol. So for those that I kept missing because our scheds didn't jive on my trips out to Chicago I can't wait to meet you, and for the guys who've I've seen many of times I can't wait to see y'all again (y'all are way too much fun!) and to the friends I've made out there I'M COMING HOME! :*

Greg

Hun, I wish you the very best, but do you think you'll be able to survive those harsh Chicago winters and scorching summers?

I know by my having lived on the West Coast (CA) for some forty years now after growing up in the Middle West where we received the four seasons vs my now two seasons-- I could NOT brave the "cold" and/or "winds" let alone those horrendous snow storms!

Lastly, my query has been answered. I'd wondered for a few months why you had a "countdown" in all of your posts. ...thought it had something to do (in some way) with the new administration that we will have come January 20, 2009! :-) Now I know!

Best of luck to you, man! :-)

Thanks for the best wishes! I am prepaired for the winters. Got the long woolies, scarfs, cute winter hats & the combat boots worked great for the snow we got recently. The first & every time I've been to Chicago I felt like I'd arrived home. I love the people, food, buildings, public transport & even the season & I've experinced the winters & hung in there with the best of them. I look small & fragile but I'm tuff!

Congratulations on your move together. Chicago is a great spot to be half-way to almost everywhere. If you can avoid the car do so. Amtrak is right downtown and excellent for quicktrips anywhere and the "L" around town and out to Ohare. Lake Michigan is a great view. Although I live north in a rival city, I do enjoy going down to Chicago, I just hate the traffic.

I know you will have a good friend with Raul in the city to give you expert advice.

I wish we were able to avoid having to get a car. I really do dislike them. But unfort Boober's work is in the burbs so there is a 99.99% chance we will end up having to get a car x( As for myself I can get along swimmingly without one of those beasts and if I did need one that is what Zipcar is for. Raul is on my speed dial so if and when I get lost he will be the first I will call to rescue me hehe. I *heart* Amtrak. I've used Amtrak a few times as an adult to head down to PDX for a weekend get away and even used it to get to and from PSP in LAX and ORD to MKE. So much more relaxing then dealing with traffic and the views are quite nice too sometimes. Being so close to other places in the mid west I'm looking forward to do some exploring near by states and cities in IL. So much to do and so little time. Time to start cracking the whip and get Boobers to get packing }(

Chiboy4hire sounds too much like Chinese boy for hire and sounds like false advertising. So for now I'm keeping the same old name. I am going to change the user name in my ads but not posting wise, for now.

I did try to join the Navy but they wouldn't give me what I wanted nor would the recruiter listen to me, so I walked. I do have a Naval uniform packed away some where around my apt.

Seaboy, it is said in song that Chicago is a "toddlin' town". I'm afraid I'm not old enough to know quite what that means, but it is catchy. If you restructure yourself as 'ToddlerForHire', you could be geographically correct, AND reach out to a sexual niche!

Just a thought.

It might also catch the attention of the vice squad as it could be taken that someone is trying to sell under age sex. Why would anyone want to land in their radar?

RE: With much regret :(

It is with much regret and tons of sadness that I am now NOT moving to Chicago. I was informed Monday morning that the position Boobers was going to take in Chicago has been temporary closed. As a result there is no job out there for him so we will not be able to move out there. This really pisses me off because just a few days before we were told all things were a go at least three times! So unless there is some great interaction by the powers that be I am stuck in Seattle for a little bit longer. I am not sure who to be more mad at, the dumb asses in DC (except for Dennis kucinich and Ron Paul), the greedy Wall Street folk or Boober's company. I have a fair amount saved up but I don't want to take the chance of running out of funds if the economy doesn't get better which I don't for at least a few more years.

RE: With much regret :(

I'm sorry that this didn't work out for you both. You may not be ready to look on the bright side right now, but it's there. Better for the position to disappear now than two weeks after you move. You'll get to Chicago. As you said, it may just take a little bit longer. The economy and the weather should both be better by Spring. You know you've got plenty of support and good wishes here.

RE: With much regret :(

Naw couldn't blame you Daddy, you've been too sweet to me. Lookin I suppose you are right, better now then two weeks from now. But I am hoping that this stimulus package of building roads, schools and what not goes through and gets implemented extremely quickly because that is the shot in the arm that'll get us moved. The weather doesn't bother me. With the crazy weather we've been having up here in Seattle (one day last week, sun, rain and snow all within a few minutes) I'd welcome something a bit more predictable. The only good thing that might come of this set back is now I might be able to travel a little bit in the next month or so :) It's been since Aug that I have been out of Washington. I am itchin to try Virgin America. Any suggestions? ;)

RE: With much regret :(

Awwwww shucks. And I was so happy you were moving here, an even bigger prize for Chicago then when when Boeing moved their headquarters here.

Hanging with you during your Chicago visits was great, and meeting the Boobers was cool.

Well guess I'll just have to go to Seattle, which I was coincidentally thinking of doing this month or next. So instead of helping you pack boxes you'll have to give me a tour of the Emerald city.

Really sorry to hear this news. Maybe your BF will be able to find a better position in the future there.
