Hi guys, time for a bit of fun :),ok what was your favourite out of the two shows, did you watch them, there is probably not one gay man in the world that has not seen at least ONE episode of either show,my favourite (just)was Dallas,i have seen every episode more than once and even had about five years on tape at one point ,when i was young i SO wanted to be JR Ewing (my BF says i am more like Sue Ellen but thats a different story !).

I later wondered though if they were so rich why did Southfork only have one phone and why did the family always eat breakfast in a Force 7 gale ?.

Dynasty i think i watched for the marvellous Joan/Linda once a season catfight and the outfits which got wider by the episode and i did think Jeff Colby was hot and he did have a name like a porn star !!,mind you i was about 14 at the time, what are your memories...ANDY

God..throughout the 80's it was a ritual for me to set up the VCR (which was the size if a small TV back then) and tape both DALLAS and FALCON CREST. I watched DYNASTY periodically....but I was a DALLAS boy from the git-go.

I was a big DYNASTY fan-and an even bigger COLBYS fan, thanks to Maxwell Caulfield appearing at least once a week shirtless(yum). One of the reasons to watch was just to look at the incredible clothes worn, the furniture, the cars, the incredibly beautiful people. I used to tape every episode of those shows, but unfortunately I don't have the tapes anymore.

I was in my 20s when both shows aired on TV. I was an avid fan of both shows...especially Dallas. What intrigued me the most were the wheelin' and dealin'... the mergers... the plotting.... the backstabbing even amongst family members. Boy, did I learn a lot from that show. I'm glad my eyes were opened early in life to see that the business and corporate world are made up of sharks and piranhas that will try to devour you if you let them. It's just a shame that Dynasty never won an Emmy despite it's numerous nominations. Just a footnote, the big mansion in Dynasty was filmed here in the SF Bay Area, in Woodside, CA.

Ah, the memories!

Sadly, I missed the last two seasons of Dynasty because of a conflict with a regularly scheduled meeting. But I caught them in reruns. Such high camp drama!

I had great hope for Spelling's latest venture into the genre, Titans, but it was beyond bad. Did they even get 3 episodes out before the plug was pulled? It was proof that you do need actual actors for a show like that. ;-) Yasmine Bleeth played a passable bitch. Casper Van Dien did TERRIFIC shirtless scenes. :9 Victoria Principal played Pam Ewing well. But the rest of the cast was just awful.

Never got into Dynasty that much. Was a BIG Dallas fan and also a Falcon Crest watcher. Loved it when Chris Atkins hung around the pool with very little on in Dallas and who could not keep his eyes off the hunky Lorenzo Lamas in Falcon Crest? :)

DYNASTY, DYNASTY, DYNASTY!!! Weekly escape for me. I had a crush on Crystal (Linda Evans), maybe it was the big shoulders! Just loved it when she cooed "oh Blake" And let's remember the openly gay son the first few years, but I forgot his name! LOL! Perfect pretty boy looks, pampered and pouty, he was a babe. Over the years there were many hunks, yes Jeff was so cute, Maxwell, James Farentino, the list goes on. . . all the way to the very end when Rock Hudson appeared in a few episodes.

Dynasty Night! A real watershed in my history for how starved I and my friends were for anything remotely gay! We used to get together every week to watch it, about 10 of us, around a potluck. When Stephen was going through his "today, I'm gay, tomorrow I'm going to marry Sammy Jo" routine we would literally shout at the TV. The biggest night was the night Stephen was working out in a gym with his boyfriend, and, if I remember correctly, they were all sweaty after their workout, laying on the mats in their private gym, staring longingly and lustily into each others eyes. The camera cuts to their hands reaching toward each other, hairy arms sweating, armpits damp, electrical bolts zinging between finger-tips. Cut away to a commercial. 10 fags screaming in my apartment!!

Total fluff, total, fun. And how unbelievable to see on TV. Times have certainly changed.

You know I was just sitting here thinking that.

I remember the days when Archie Bunker "went off" on "sweetie pie Roger". Anyone remember the Billy Crystall character on SOAP? Dynasty did really break some ground with a gay character who was human. (And yes, I yelled at the screen a lot too.)

Today we have Will & Grace (with all its warts) and Queer As Folk (with actual bathhouse scenes including a Falcon porn model). And just this week, a coming out scene on Showtime's Resurrection Blvd.

We've got a long way to go, but we've come a long way baby.

Ain't it great, Deej? Yes, we have a long way to go, but I'm so glad I've been here to see the changes that have happened. From screaming at the TV to screaming with the TV.

  • 16 years later...

    • Catherine Oxenberg is desperate to save her daughter from a group she claims “brainwashed” her.

The “Dynasty” star told People she introduced India, 20, to Nxivm (pronounced Nex-I-um), which a friend pitched to her as a self-improvement group, in 2011. The mother-daughter duo attended a meeting together.

Oxenberg, 56, found the group to be “weird and creepy,” but India was immediately drawn to it. According to People, she devoted herself to Nxivm for the next few years, attending meetings more frequently along with expensive classes.

She reportedly recruited friends and drained her bank account of her inheritance in the name of the organization.

According to People, Oxenberg held back on interfering until April 2016, when Bonnie Piesse, a friend who’d recently left Nxivm, came to her about India’s role in the group or “secret sisterhood,” as she described it.

“You need to save your daughter,” Piesse told Oxenberg at the time. “You need to save India.”

Piesse claimed she saw India in the days before she left Nxivm and was troubled by what she saw.

“India was in a bad situation. One time she told me that she wasn’t going to eat for three days (out of) penance to try and correct her behavior,” Piesse revealed.

Oxenberg told People she reached out to her daughter, who left Los Angeles for Albany in 2016, in April. Before the end of their phone conversation, her daughter reportedly relayed some worrying information.

“‘Mom, my hair has been falling out, and I haven’t had a period in a year. Maybe I should see a doctor?'” India reportedly said.

“I’m helpless, I’ve lost my child and will do whatever I can to get her back,” Oxenberg told People.

While Oxenberg didn’t detail any more of what Piesse told her, others who left the group shared harrowing details of their own experiences that provide perspective for those unfamiliar with Nxivm.

“It was the most painful, traumatic moment of my life,” Sarah Edmondson, 40, told People, adding that she’d been branded with leader Keith Raniere’s initials before leaving.

In spite of her mother’s loft allegations, India maintained in a recent Facebook post that she’s “absolutely fine.”

People reported that Nxivm has been operating in Albany, N.Y., for nearly 20 years. An estimated 16,000 people have paid up to $3,400 to participate in what they believe is an executive-coaching workshop.

Raniere’s group, which has expanded to San Francisco and Mexico, promises to take participants on a journey of personal discovery and development.

Before founding Nxivm, Raniere founded a discount-buying club that was later shut down after investigations into allegations that it was a pyramid scheme were launched in 23 states by two federal agencies.

He did not admit to any wrongdoing in the case, but agreed to pay out a settlement.

The Daily News attempted to reach out to Nxivm, but were unsuccessful.

(India isn’t Casper van Dien’s daughter).

You resurrected a 16 year old thread for what reason?

Because of Oxenberg's connection to DYNASTY, and deej's mention of Casper Van Dien, not to mention that DYNASTY is being resurrected, and if there's a discussion of the new show at some point this thread is the logical place for it.

BTW, NYC-born Oxenberg has the strangest NEW YAWK accent I've ever heard!

I had great hope for Spelling's latest venture into the genre, Titans, but it was beyond bad.... Casper Van Dien did TERRIFIC shirtless scenes.

Dynasty 2.0 is airing on Wednesday nights on the CW at 9pm et.

Set in Atlanta instead of Denver. Krystle is now Latina (Cristal). Jeff Colby and chauffeur Michael are both black. Sammie Jo (Heather Locklear) in now Sammy Joe, aka "Sam" and played by the very hot Rafael de La Fuente. 3 episodes have aired thus far. Last nights episode finally had opening credits (barely) similar to the 80s version. I believe they have the episodes (and also the entire 80s run of eps) up on the CW website.
