Hi guys,

I hope this isn't inappropriate to advertise here.

I'm Jason, a new escort recently moved to New York from Pgh. I've been escorting for about 3 and a half months, and am loving it! I will be posting pics on this site.

In the meantime, please email me for phone number/ link to my website if you are interested.

I love to bottom, but can top also. I'm 6'2, 170, swimmers build. Good looking, 23 years old.

I apologize if I wasn't supposed to advertise here.

Welcome Jason,

I'm not Management, so I can't say whether it's cool to advertise in the lounge (might be better in the [a href=http://babydb.male4malescorts.com/m4mdc/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=7]Deli[/a] section), but if more new guys and part-timers did, we clients would feel less of the urge to wrestle with the wretched flakiness that is [a href=http://losangeles.craigslist.org/ers/]Craigslist[/a]. Sorry I'm on the wrong coast for you (LA), but if you ever get the urge to travel West, be sure and use the [a href=http://babydb.male4malescorts.com/m4mdc/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=6]Escort Travels[/a] section to let us know when you're coming and we'll send a Welcoming Committee.

Nite stud

;-)

Hey Jason..Welcome to the Forums. NYC is a very Competetive Place, alot of "Workin Guys" for different "Economic" reasons...But IF your "Appearance and Attitude" are Great you will do well. Especially.. IF you are a Great "TOP"! LOL After you gain a certain amount of "Regular Clients",from what I have heard , Things sort of "Fall into Place" to a certain degree! LOL... Again the Best of Luck to You! :+

Hey newbie,

It is inappropriate to advertise, as such, anywhere on this message board. Unless you count the Travelling section as advertising. However, if you were to watch the threads for just a couple of days, I am sure that you could come up with a thread you would like to contribute to. If you have already arranged for your signature to always post your web site address at the end of your posts, you then are getting out your message without mucking up the air waves, so to speak. And people are in the position of getting to know the way you think, which they really can't do very well just from advertising.

a picture is worth a thousand words, guy! link your "avatar" to your pic on your website and that will advertise what we want to see every time you post.

Also, asking me to email you to get links to get your pics is just a *tiny* bit more effort for me as a client, so I'm less likely to try to find out more about you. So posting your links in your signature is a plus for me so I can check you out easily.

Good luck!

And people are in the position of getting to know the way you think, which they really can't do very well just from advertising.[/p][/blockquote] A point of contention... this is not so much an advertisement as an introduction... Since Barry moved it from Lounge to Deli rather than deleting it, I'm assuming he feels the same way. Here are the relavant sections of the rules: [blockquote]RESPECT THIS SITE [p]3. This site depends on advertising for part of its existence. Advertising on this site is available for purchase. If you are interested in purchasing advertising space, please contact daddy@male4malescorts.com. Please do not try to take advantage of the free services we provide by posting blatant free advertising. Such posts are not allowed unless authorized by Daddy.[/p][/blockquote] Which would seem to pertain to spamlike commercial ads, not to cute escort boys coming in and saying "Hi guys, I'm available..." [blockquote]ACTIONS OF THE MODERATORS [p]6. Blatant advertising will be removed. When such posts are discovered, the moderators will make a judgment based on the activity or enterprise being advertised and any potential value the information has for the Message Center audience. Their decision will always be final.[/p][/blockquote] [p]Which apparently happened, with Barry choosing to relocate the intro to a more appropriate venue rather than delete it as a "blatant" ad.[/p] [p]What you seem to be saying is that you don't like your "airwaves" "mucked up" but it's fine to "advertise" in the signature. Some of us clients come here to seek out and engage the new guys, what you suggest makes it even harder to find them. See [a href=http://babydb.male4malescorts.com/m4mdc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=7&topic_id=53551&mesg_id=53551&page=]here[/a] my proposal (so far uncommented upon) to have a "new guys" forum that would solve both our issues.[/p] It's been met with deafening silence though, so I'm playing with the idea of shopping it to the revolutionaries and see if they are up for a challenge. We need a free alternative to craigslist. It's a win-win-win for clients, escorts and website Management. [p]Cheers.[/p]

>We need a free alternative to craigslist.

I'm neither endorsing nor 'dissing' the idea but I doubt that is what you'll get.

It would be nice addition if a criagslist type alternative were to be spawned. However, I supsect that a glimpse of the apple has a tendency to despoil the craigslist persona giving way to the newbie profiles on rentboy, men4rent, etc. Not my idea of craigslist but a convenience for those that don't patrol the escort listing sites. But for those that do how will they know that they haven't missed something. :p

On a more practical note... this would be some work to set up because a single queue for all geographic locations would become a nightmare in short order. Thus you are looking at state indexes, and city also. Also, would there be a finite shelf life? I believe craigslist shelf life is seven days? That is not appropriate for this site... or maybe it is?). What about tracking guys that fall out of the business. Free intros would permit anyone to post no matter how serious their intention. Nothing frustrates like dead contact information or escort dropouts that don't announce their change in status. Thus added site maintenance or a soon-out-of-date resource.

Setting up like craigslist with a seven day suspense period would keep the data base current although I strongly doubt you will get close craigslist rates because guys know they are posting to a site where clients routinely pay 200-300 an hour. Possibly a mechanism for rate creep in the casual, once-in-a-while, I-need-money-tonight market. Just thoughts.

I can see the crust and barnacles forming aroung the structure of the MC, but I want plenty of "I gave you guys the chance and see... nothing" CYA ammo for when (and if) I strike out on my own. I see a need and dadgumit, time to make a move. [p]No, craigslist being the ultra-popular general use site, is going to stay at the top of the popularity list (unless the Morality Squad comes into power there), but since eBay did buy out a chunk of their operation, and since it really is not a big moneymaker, having being bought by types who place profitibility highest in importance, it may go BOOM at any time, then there'll be a BIG opening.[/p] [p]Yea, this'll need to be a DB driven site with geographic sections and aging (or a followup mechanism for escorts to be able to delete or append their old post later), but as this is a portion of what I do for a living, I've been working with vBulletin, Invision, SMF (Simple Machines Forum) and a few other MC forum systems, and i've been helping some european friends admin a rather popular site, so I'm kind itching to take the plunge. It's in the conception stage and I'm trying to interest some guys, so we'll see where things go. I've got to have several more rounds with my attorney friends before I'm comfortable with the temperature of the water I'd be jumping into.[p]Thanks for the feedback tho...[/p]

Craigslist is actually quite profitable. The profit comes from the paid advertising sections (Real Estate and Employment, IIRC). They give away the "fluff" (personals, etc.) to build popularity and drive traffic into the paid advertising. It has worked remarkably well.

Glad to hear, as I use it for classifieds quite a lot. But as we have seen from the Yahoo! adult groups debacle, these large public companies have the jitters when it comes to "adult" sections, so all it would take would be a some Falwell-type thumper to castigate them as "a nest of harlots" and they would dump the baby out with the bathwater. I'd just love to be poised and ready to offer an alternative should that happen.

Another thing that plays in their favor is the type guys that often post ads there in "erotic services" are of the "I am not an escort.... I just need money for rent this month!" variety, which wouldn't ever post here because it's not in keeping with their self image. Too bad "escort" has such a stigma, because I know from experience that some of these type guys can be the least expensive, yet a hella lot of fun. [p]"I am not gay! I just do this for money!" OK, babe, anything you say. You are "buy"sexual... I "buy" & you're "sexual" K? ;)[/p]

I sent him an e-mail yesterday -- Monday -- morning requesting a link to his website, as he suggested, and have heard nothing as of Tuesday evening, better than 36 hours later. He may turn out to be a good escort, but soliciting responses and then ignoring them is lousy business practice! On the basis of this alone I would be unlikely to consider him.

There have been a number of times in the past when various newbies have shown up and then not actually been there. Which is a bit better than the times where a "planning to be a newbie" shows up, milks us for all the information he can get, then never gets into the business and never keeps posting here either.

Now, I wasn't the first to call this thread advertising, the original poster was in his very first sentence.

And this is the site that promotes escorting as an art full of professionalism. I cannot see cheapening it with anything that would help people find people who don't intend to stay in the business. That would run counter to our purpose here. Of course, sometimes sticking to your guns is compared to a cranky old ship, all bebarnacled, etc. But if you don't stand for something, you'll ... wait a minute, some of us would go prone for anything male anyway. }(

I was just hoping to get a better read on the new rules.[/p] [p]I did want to clarify a couple of points though...[p]I confess I did use "advertise" to describe Jason's post, but I was clearly hoping that the Management differentiated between "ad-ads" (commercial/spam) and escort introduction "ads" which don't compete with m4m revenue and some of us clearly want more of...[/p] [p]I am perplexed though why they would include the statement "HTML links may cause your post to be deleted if they contain advertising." in the description of the Escort Travel section. Meaning that HTML ad sigs are banned there, but fine everywhere else? I assume it was due to some member abuse or the other, oh well.[/p] [p]As to professionalism, I'm always hoping and expecting the the guys I see will be professional, but not all the guys are pros aka "full-timers". The part-time "hobby" escorts (those not escorting as their primary source of income) I see can be every bit as professional as the pros, the hobby guys maybe even moreso, as many of them don't need the money. OK pro guys, I'm not dissing, not trying to start something, you guys are usually masters of professionalism, just thought I would put in a word of defense for the unrepresented.[/p][p]I didn't call the MC itself a crusty barnacled ship, though there are a few crusty barnacles resident here.;) I was referring to the structure of the forums which hasn't changed since the Fetish Forum was added some time back. I would love if it did change to add my [a href=http://babydb.male4malescorts.com/m4mdc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=7&topic_id=53551&mesg_id=53551&page=]proposed group[/a] but I'm certianly not holding my breath. Maybe they'll learn something, think better of us, and maybe recommend us to their friends who are more suited than they for the escort profession. I'm always willing to give the new guys the benefit of the doubt, and leave it to them to demonstrate unworthiness. Call me a slut and a suck-up if you must.;) Guilty as charged.[/p]

No disrespect meant...

I hope my "IF you are a Great Top" Statement didn't make him reconsider "workin" in the NYC Market. I often wondered how many clients a Popular "Workin Bottom" could work in one day? Is this the reason why "FEW" Bottoms advertise "Strictly Bottom".. The Burn Out Rate of the Butt? LOL :+
