Reviewer errors

I've noticed a growing tendency for reviewers to fill out Hooboy's review form incorrectly. A frequent error occurs in the space for indicating Top, Bottom or Versatile. This means for the ESCORT not the reviewer. So if you write Top, it means the escort is a top, or acted as such with you. In today's review of Eric Magyar the info at the top says "Bottom", but when you read the review it becomes clear that the escort topped the reviewer. I've noticed this particular thing happening a lot lately. Also some reviewers skip all sorts of info that Hooboy put there because it's the stuff readers want to know.

So guys, thanks for the reviews, but try to fill them out correctly. I'm sure Daddy can't proofread everything, so it would be nice to get the right info.

I can't speak to all reviews and reviewers -- but I know there are some parts that I request be omitted by personal choice if I'm being reviewed.

Are some of these things general details like appearance or possibly more personal aspects like phone number?

As someone that has written over 60 reviews, I'm just curious from your comment:

1) Do your reviewers let you know they are going to review you before they do?

2) Do you request to edit your reviews from the reviewer before they send them in?

I always send the confirmation copy of the review to the escort I've reviewed in case there are any factual errors. I don't give them the opportunity to edit the comments, but it lets them contact the site with factual changes -- phone number, stats, etc.

I might just mention that I always ask the escort if they'd like a review and if there is any info they'd prefer to be left out. I've never had anyone ask me first to write one. Also never had an escort complain about any of the reviews that I've written -- but I've been very lucky to have hired some pretty incredible guys -- yes, including Scott Adler ;-)

This has been discussed many times before.

It would actually be trivial for Daddy to have the software just throw away incomplete reviews.

The consensus, though, has always been that we should include everything and let the reader read between the lines.

When it comes to voluntarily submitted information, you really don't get a say in what does and does not get provided. That's just the way it works. You get to see what other guys say, and if they'll only say so much then that's all you get to see.

They tend to let me know before they review me. Or it will be discussed at dinner. Essentially, this is my only form of "advertising" so people tend to comment on the fact my number isn't posted nor my rates; so it would come up "if they were to write a review for me..."

As for the request to edit, I wouldn't be that pompous. I don't turn them DOWN if they ask me to but I obviously don't require that. Most courteous clients wouldn't want to overstep a line and reveal personal information or something I wouldn't want publicized. There are other reviewers of mine that put my academic and his professional status at risk by reviewing me in his fashion -- sounded like a fucking porn story -- I would definitely have "edited" that had I been given the chance.

Yup. And that is why it will be nice to have a rating on reviews that will allow readers to skip over. I understand daddy is working on a scheme.

Is there a reason that you don't want your rates quoted?

I have rarely told an Escort that I write reviews when I meet them. The only times the Escort would know from me is:

1) If I had seen them before

2) If they ask how I found out about them, and I answer Hooboy, some have then asked me if I write reviews and I always answer yes.

3) If we have communicated with each other in the Message Center, I will generally let them know who I am when I make the appointment or when we meet.

Since meeting an escort almost always ends with a sexual encounter, I find it hard to write a review that is not sexual or guess some might call porn.

I am hoping to meet you when I get to LA in a few months. So now the question is do I tell you who I am and that I write reviews or not when we meet? ;-)

I've never let an Escort see the review before it is posted in the Reviews. I do try to re-read the review when I receive the confirmation to try to correct any errors on my part. With the use of drop down boxes, it is some times easy to hit the wrong box. I know one time I had the guy as blond, when he was definitely not blond, and had to ask Hoo to correct my mistake.

I have had several Escorts ask me to write a review, I also had one, where our encounter was not so good, offer to refund my money if I would NOT write a Review that would be negative.

If one takes seriously the task of writing a review, which I do knowing how a review can effect the Escort's business, it can be a time consuming project and they should try to be as accurate as possible.

Deej..Well said..Even when the Review is either "Boring" or "Over The Top" it should be Totally the Reviewer's Thoughts. The Form says to "CHECK" all info for any Errors "BEFORE" Submitting also! IF a guy doesn't have the "TIME" to fill out the Form Properly, his "TIME" with the ESCORT wasn't very Memorable either! I Personally after the "Confirmation" send a copy to the Guy. So that in Time, when it is Posted, he knows what anyone contacting him is Talking about..Some Guys "read into" a Review What they want to! Of Course I never mention a Review "BEFORE THE FACT"..I donot think it is Fair to the Escort..The Chemistry is there or it is not!...LOL :+

I have written numerous reviews, at least 15. I have let the escort see everyone in advance mainly due to the statistics. Phone number, e-mail and such I leave to escort to tell me if he wants it posted. I am not a good judge weight(I usually guess less)or age (I usually guess less) I forget a lot of the facial issues because that is for most part irrelevant to me, except dental hygiene. I will post a session or rate per hour and would do so whether escort would agree or not because I think that is very important to clients, but I have never had anyone ask me not to. I have written most of my reviews in a rather pornagraphic mode, however, if the escort would ask me not to be so graphic I suppose I could respect his choice, but sort of ruins the fun for me. I am currently in the process of doing a review that will not be graphic and I got a very good reason from the escort.

I have had the escort, probably four times, ask me to write a review of which I would have done anyway. Only once did the escort ask me to modify the description and since it was a discussion about what we would do on a potential future meeting and had nothing to do with the current meeting and did not involve a safety issue I had no problem deleting it. But I would never change my comments on my level of satisfaction of the meeting.

Now I have never done a negative review. Except sort of half-assed here in the forum once and I wont do into that again. I have not decided what to do in that case yet. Up to now I have let them pass, but since I have been actively participating in the forum, guys have given me a good reason to post one even if was not a bad review just a so-so and no on the rehire.

I regularly review escorts on this site and thus find this thread most interesing. I am a terrible judge of age, height, and weight so I have come to rely of the "Escort Verification" section that now proceeds reviews for this type of information -- a great help.

I always have either lunch or dinner with the escorts I hire and during the course of the meal conversation they frequently ask how I located them and I tell them this site. If my experience with an escort has been good or excellent I ALWAYS ask if they have any objections to my writing a review of our time together. Thus far none have said NO. Some have asked my to omit their telephone number and/or simply state "ask" regarding rates or fees. I have no difficulty honoring either of these requests. I, however, NEVER give an escort the opportunity to edit my written comments on our time together. These comments represent my preceptions, my reaction, and my feeling and they are mine alone.

>Is there a reason that you don't want your rates quoted?

Yes, because as Bill mentioned in another thread; I have a very unorthodox rates system. It's best for me to talk to people and give them my rates in a medium in which I can explain rates by details and let them understand how I custom tailor my rates to make EVERYONE happy :)

>2) If they ask how I found out about them, and I answer

>Hooboy, some have then asked me if I write reviews and I

>always answer yes.

As I mentioned previously, I advertise on HooBoy and on AOL in chatrooms. One or the other. Chances are you'd email me in such a way that I know you're messaging from HooBoy.

>Since meeting an escort almost always ends with a sexual

The pornier the better, usually gets a better response I've found :)

Telling me who you are would DEFINITELY help you. I'd be less likely to assume you a flake or disingenuous. I'd take you more seriously.

As to the review, I also tend to say, "If you choose to review me, I'd appreciate you not posting my phone number or my rates."

Having only written 7 Reviews (I think), I'm hardly in the league with my buddies Uncle Bill and KYTop (guess I'm just not that slutty - yeah - that's the reason }( ), but FWIW, I always let the escort read my draft Review before I send it in. That said, I always make it clear that the final words are mine. :D

Until recently, I've never had an escort ask me not to write a Review ... well, actually it's not quite like that. A few weeks ago I saw an awesome guy in Houston who is so concerned about his private life that I'm struggling with how to write a Review (which I am determined to do) in a way that it doesn't compromise him (his stats are particularly impressive and he feels they could "give him away").

As for mentioning rates, given who else has posted in this thread, I'm not touching that one with a, umm, er, uh huh. Been there. Done that. x(

P.S. Anyone who wants a "private report" on a just incredibly hott guy in Houston, feel free to email or private message me. :p

Personally, I'd prefer not to know beforehand that I'll be hired by someone who posts here. I prefer to be surprised ! If someone let me know afterwards, that's fine, but definitely not a must.

This is apparently somewhat common with certain types of clients or escorts. A number of my younger friends have gotten this "courtesy" and a number of escorts have told me that they both request this or, in one case, require this.

The only time it happened to me, it turned out the reviewer made several crucial mistakes in the review: putting his name for the escort name and his email address in place of my own as the escort. In any event, Hoo Boy told me when I asked him to delete this personal information of the client that he could not run the review since it was not "properly completed" so the private information would not run. It was also killed because Hoo Boy could not verify that "XYZ" individual (my client) was an escort.

I would imagine based on my limited experience that there is quite a great deal of effort made into verifying the reviews, although Hoo Boy said a number of times he did not make any efforts to proof read for typos, errors or to correct mistakes (or he would spend his life doing nothing but), so I think a few things slip by but this is something that will definitely get cleared up "in the wash" for most - client and escort alike.

IMHO. Some Escorts are a little more than just "Surprised", when they find out a guy even knows about M4M! But usually they find that out right away, after "how did you find me" is asked! BUT I usually say RENTBOY! There have been a couple of "Well Advertised Escorts" I have not boithered Reviewing, because "My Experience" was definitely "Luke Warm-Cold"..As opposed to "Hot" like some of their Previous Reviews.. So to go through all of the Questionaire, and the Proof Reading.. for a So,So Review just doesn't make all that much sense. IF they have "Glowed in the Past". so be it! "Luv or Leave'm"..LOL :+

JT you are right, I have had a few popularly review gentlemen that I only had an average time with. On these, the guy was everything physcially that was said, but there was no connection and the sex was at best average. I know I will receive the "even though it is average, you should still review." Maybe I put more emphasis on what a somewhat negative review might mean to the guy's business than I should, but maybe it is not enough to put a damper on his business. I do not know, but me I look at what the negative was, is there more than one, did escort reply and did he address the questions raised.

Mr Adler your response is very interesting. I am not sure how I would handle the rate question. I do look at the rates and if they are over a certain $ it is a move on signal and given my location it is a fly in sort of thing which may or may not ever apply to you in my case. I will say I am modifying my usual review process for next review because I received a reason that made very good sense to me. I like challenges.
