Like the Probies and even the Cover Boy competition, any internet contest is liable for manipulation. 800 seems a small number of votes. Between me and Jesse - Vancouver, we got nearly that same number of votes in the last month's voting. That this list is geared to the same people and that many of them are also adult film actors is also not surprising.

 

However, the pool party is a benefit for Hook and while in the past this on-line publication has been very inactive, they are taking it upon themselves to produce regular material and much of it has been really beneficial to both clients and escorts (financial planning for the guys, how to pick an escort for the clients, safer sex practices for both, etc.)

 

I do not endorse either the particular nominees or the awards - it is just an excuse to use one of Michael Brandon's regularly scheduled San Vicente Inn pool parties to benefit Hook and that I believe is a good thing.

 

If people on this site believe that the wrong escorts are being recognized, then there is a solution to that. But as I pointed out elsewhere in another thread, awards where ONE person is singled out and which are conducted by on line voting tend not to be objective. Ideally, the clients would recognize escorts for good traits, vote for candidates and the top vote getters would be recognized without notice to which one received what percentage of votes.

 

For example, it could be ten things which the clients on this site vote on and view as important in selecting an escort:

 

Responsiveness in arranging sessions

 

Appearance (including personal grooming)

 

Punctuality

 

Those are just three examples based on my recollection of what clients have mentioned on the Board. I honestly do not know that I would want to be known as one of the escorts with the best "BO" but then this would serve to acknowledge what the clients think is important, not what I think.

 

Then the top number of escorts in each category would each receive a "tarnished tiara" in F Cubed's phrase, without one being singled out above the others.

 

In this case, we would be honoring what the clients view as important and recognize the escorts who best exemplify these traits, versus who is more popular, who can get more people to vote, etc.
