I get into this site every day and I found that american people (as every people in the world) enjoy brazilian men. All pics and reviews are very among the hottest you can find. However, I found a lot of escorts that describe itself as brazilian, and I am sure that they are not. I've seen a lot of pictures of "brazilian" guys that do not comply with brazilian ethnicity. I am from South America, and is easier to realize that. Maybe american people see all the people beyond Rio Grande as similar, but they are not.

In other words, "brazilian" has become a marketing word for escorting business. I f you like hot guys, go for theem. Maybe they are not brazilian, but it's a fantasy matter, so enjoy it.

I'm sure there are guys pretending to be Brazilian in the escort business. Brazilians have a great reputation, and foreigners may not think of Colombians or Peruvians as being as sexy just because they've never been with anyone from those countries.

If someone doesn't know Portuguese, or isn't really familiar with Brazil, it probably would be hard to determine for sure if someonce claiming to be Brazilian really is. Obviously, if you do speak the language or know the country, it would be easier to scout out the fakes. If a "Brazilian" turns out not to speak Portuguese, that's a pretty obvious tip-off! ;) Or, even if you don't speak Portuguese, but know the country well, you can just ask lots of questions only a Brazilian would know, like what neighborhood of Rio they're from. And if they say "Copacabana" see if they know particular streets, bars, landmarks, etc.

Otherwise, forget about being a detective. If your guy is hot and the fantasy works for you, who cares? :9

Ethnic branding is indeed a big part of this business, just like age branding. "Italian" means anything from a light-skin black American to a Moroccan to an Israeli or even East Indian. I have met some guys who use Italian and Latin alternately, sometimes depending on the agency. (One guy who was Latin on Campus is now Italian on Maximum.) Indeed Italian seems to be the widest of brand choices. German and Scandinavian are used interchangeably.

Israelis are often simply "Mediteranean". French and French Canadian are sometimes "confused". "Cuban" and "Brazilian are slightly more exotic brands of Latin". I know one actual Brazilian/Cuban escorts who advertises as Latin because he says if he uses Cuban or Brazilian, people assume he is black and he gets fewer calls. Presumably, some other Latins seek out the dangerous "exotic" bird market.

I guess my question always is what happens when someone orders a Mediteranean and gets an Israeli, or orders an Italian and gets a Moroccan or Black American. Do clients get upset or refuse to pay? I guess the prevalence suggests that the pracrice is more lucrative than dangerous. It does offer some insights into psycho-sexual stereotyping though.

I never thought about this in terms of "branding," but it makes sense. However, one can only take it so far without risking making the client feel ripped off, like someone black or Moroccan claiming to be Italian.

By the way, if you look at a map, Israelis do have a legitimate basis for claiming to be Mediterranean! Of course, the "Mediterranean" stereotype tends to be of some Renaissance-looking guy from Italy or Greece with dark ringlets, à la Michaelangelo's David, but not all people from around the Mediterranean are dark. There are a surprising number of blonds and redheads in parts of Spain, Italy and Greece, as well as in countries like Lebanon!

Oh yes, in Northern Italy there are blonds and red heads but they aren't really from Mediteranean Italy. Having said that, there used to be a nice Blond Italian/Brazilian or Brazilian Italian on Rentboy who was for real - Matteo. Does anyone know where he's gone? I have not seen his add up since last Fall.

As for Israelis, without wanting to unleash WW III, I think most of the problems in that part of the world is that most Israelis are actually Polish/Russian/Germanic descendants. If they were sephardic and not askenazi, maybe we wuld not all be in a state of war now. That said, if Israelis do come to see themselves as truly Mediteranean over time, and not just in escorting, then maybe they would cease to stick out like a sore thumb in that region of the world!

In my original post, I forgot to mention the Black Puerto Rican on Maximum who calls himself Italian. Actually, come to think of it, in Europe I saw a lot of Turks and Albanians who branded themselves as Itallian.

Jamie looks terrific, and I expect to be with him some day. But he doesn't look as a brazilian, but maybe as central-american procedence.

Mybe is just a prejudice. I think Jamie doesn't need to change its original country to get clients (if it's the case), he's pictures are his best asset.

Returning to the Israeli matter for a moment: Possibly the relatively recent massive immigration from Russia has tipped the population balance, but certainly before then the majority of Israelis actually were Sephardim and Mizrahim. They just haven't had the degree of political power or economic success that the Ashkenazim attained. However, by the second, third, or fourth generations, Israelis (even Ashkenazim) primarily identify themselves as Israeli, which makes 'em Mediterranean. Believe me, anyone familiar with Israeli bureaucracy, food, music and other features of Israeli life will recognize that the Mediterranean mentality prevails there. A model of Teutonic efficiency Israel is not! Except maybe in security matters. :)

they have a child.

guess what, ignoramus?

that child is BRAZILIAN!

unless you're talking about some yanomamo running around the jungle blowing darts at monkeys, you're NOT talking about "brazilian 'ethnicity'"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe, but let's face it in terms of the economic and cultural elites in Israel, the center of gravity is still Warsaw, Berlin and New York (which doesn't count because its centre of gravity is Warsaw and Berlin etc.) (Just listen to the accents, the literary and cultural references, the music etc.) When that changes I might buy the Mediterranean appelation, but not before then.

I don't know, maybe is just me, but when I close my eyes and listen to Israelis I see Nazis and white South Africans before the fall of apartheid. They are smug and arrogant Tuetonic wannabees and rejects which is of course what Herzl intended when he modeled his Zionist ideas on the fashionable 19th century German notions of the nation state.

I once hired a "Mediterranean" with hot pictures on Rentboy, and was quite disappointed to find an Israeli army reservist on my door step. On the other hand, I have been pleasantly surprised with a Moroccan "Mediterranean" I hired from Rentboy. I guess it depends on the person and the fantasy of the moment.

well, maybe if could spell, you would not be in a state of idiocy.

please explain the relevance of your comments regarding ashkenazim causing some state of war for everyone.

by the way, of what country are you a citizen? the US is NOT in a state of war. congress hasn't declared war since 1947.

you're obviously woefully ill-informed about jews, judaism, and israel. why am i not surprised that you're here passing off misconception as fact?

for the record, no, my heritage is not ashkenazic. i could try to explain to you that there is more than just sephardim/ashkenazim to think about with jewry, but i doubt you'd comprehend.

Maybe he could just say "Israeli", but I guess there is a problem with that particular brand these days. His judgement, not mine ....!

The BF is Sephardic - father Iraqi and mother from Spain. He tells me that for forty years after 1948 the Eastern European jews (Ashkenazi) basically ruled Israel. He said in the last 15 to 20 years, the discrimination against the Sephardic jews has pretty much disappeared over there. I don't know how Berlin could be a center of gravity as he (and most of his friends) won't travel to Germany; let alone the fact that there aren't many German jews left.

Later.

PS. Excellent speech by the President yesterday. Sharon now has a free rein to pummel the Palestinians.

I read recently in a leading Israeli newspaper that since the beginning of the Intifadah, German citizenship applications have increased at a dramatic rate. Please don't shoot the messenger! It has been my experience that most Israelis aspire to be very European, but if that is not your experience ok. Also on the discrimination within Isarel against Sephardim and Ethiopian Jews, I would just suggest you read some of Michael Lerner's writings in Tikkun. My main point was about "branding". The fact that many Israeli escorts don't refer to themselves as Israeli is signifcant, I think, but please don't shoot the messenger.

Of course it's branding and part of it is probably a concern about anti-Semitism.

yes & no

there are many & varied reasons why the sephardim (as well as other types of jews) have historically been less active in israeli political life than the ashkenazim. it is a mistake to characterize it as deliberate oppression on the part of the ashkenazi elite though. part of the explanation lies in sephardic culture itself. you're quite right when you say that there has been a dramatic change in enfranchisement in israeli public affairs in the past decade or so. although they are on the decline now, shas (the sephardic ultra-orthodox party) helped bring about a new role for sephardic & other non-ashkenazic jews.

Yes, and no doubt that is why the "Italian" brand is so popular for so many people from countries whose countries border the Mediteranean. They all want to escape negative associations with their home brand and acquire positive asociations with another. I am a little amused, however that my musings about Israrelis and branding generated such intense feelings especially since one who defended the use of the Mediterranean brand by Israelis opposed it by Moroccans.

Personally, race is such an artificial construct anyway, I don't care as long as it is a credible use of the brand. Some if not many light skin blacks might be able to pull off the Italian image if not the accent. In my limited experience, the Israeli/Mediterranean I sought to hire was a Miami/New York escort with a fake picture superimposed over a water background. His branding failed on at least two counts. I thought that a Moroccan Mediteranean on Rentboy and another one on Campus did a better job, although still not convincing. Then again even Italians often refer to the Southern Italians as Africans. Let's face it, much of what is appealing of Italians and Spaniards comes from their years of occupation by African and other Eastern invadrers. It is a not so dirty little secret.

who opposed a moroccan saying he is mediterranean? i know several moroccans & only those of french or spanish heritage (or partial heritage) ever call themselves mediterranean, but i have no problem with it if anyone does.

I was responding to Post #3. I think Israelis who brand themselves as Italian or Mediteranean are deceptive for the reasons stated above. I thought it was odd that the person who made that Post thought that deception by a person from one country bordering the Mediteranean was ok but not another. Nowhere did I state that the Israeli branding was any worse than any other.

On the other issue, look anyone who has any familiarity with Jewish culture in Israel knows that it is self-consciously Eurocentric (just read any speech by Sharron, Netanyahu or Peres), but ok as I said before if the escort branding by Israelis signals a move to fit more into there environs, I support it. At any rate these issues that are debated so openly in Israel sem to lead to reflexive charges of antisemitism in the U.S. It is curious indeed, but I stand by what I said before about Hertzl's writings on Zionism. It is a pity so few Jews have actually read them.

you're poorly informed about israeli culture. your comments are based on typical conjecture & prejudice. i find it laughable that you seem to think that you're the ultimate authority on israel, jewry, judaism, and many other topics. that's fine though. it would be pointless for me to try to get you to open your mind. maybe you'll eventually find your way there on your own. you're welcome to think what you want. you're likewise welcome to express yourself, though you be wrong.
