I'm planning a February trip to WM. I have stayed at Calypso Inn and Ed Lugo Resort, each of which is easy walking distance to the clubs and bars. Some friends have recommended Cabanas, even though its a bit farther from the town center. I would appreciate any feedback about Cabanas that COM members can offer. Does the environment offset the distance?

Thanks

I've stayed at Cabanas once (2016) and Ed Lugo thrice (2018 & 2019).  I wouldn't pay the same rate or extra for the Cabanas over Ed Lugo, as Ed Lugo's location can't be beat.  However, I didn't have a room facing the water at Cabanas (those rooms are beyond my budget), so someone who values a view of the water may prefer the Cabanas.

Check out Solstice at Wilton, my new go-to gay hotel since 2020.  It's located near Ed Lugo, and has better prices.

No experience there...but highly recommend Solstice!  James is the owner and the nicest guy.  They are located directly behind and down about half a block from the Eagle.

I always rent the "Cabana House" as it's at the main property....they have a secondary with no pool and you have to walk down so stay at the main property.  This room is directly in front of the pool and has it's own direct access to the street and parking at the front door

Thank you all for the input. Those who visit the area may be interested to learn that the Calypso Inn has closed. It was admittedly in need of some TLC but Wesley the owner was a sweetheart. And the rates were the best around. I wonder if it will reopen as a men's resort or become condos?

I called Solstice and spoke with the owner Jim. He was lovely but sold out. So too was Cabanas, BTW. Back To Ed Lugo. I guess September is late for booking a February trip.
