BSR Posted Monday at 08:11 AM Posted Monday at 08:11 AM My gym here has launched a longevity program that features, among other things, red light and cryotherapy. I did a bit of googling on both. Red light therapy has proven benefits — skin rejuvenation, pain relief, inflammation reduction — and claims plenty of benefits to date unproven — athletic performance gains, weight loss, anti-aging. The proven benefits of cryotherapy are even fewer — helps with soreness after workouts — and plenty of unproven claims not worth mentioning. I just tried one session of red light therapy. It didn’t get nearly as hot as I feared it would, and I feel pretty good afterward. It’s quite inexpensive here in Manila, so I’ll probably sign up for the intro 10-session package. After that, see how I feel and reassess. Have you done one or the other, both? How did it work, or not, for you?
+ nycman Posted Monday at 10:32 PM Posted Monday at 10:32 PM I’ve tried both. I don’t have the patience for red light (It takes weeks for minimal benefit) and I hate cold. Results (albeit with very poor compliance on my part), were temporary and I believe imaginary. YMMV

For people who are ready to check out? Seriously, I don’t want longer life - I didn’t prepare for it. I suppose I could just start drinking again. But I wanna die having succeeded at something. And I’ve succeeded at not drinking for 15 years. Yeah, I know, I’m being a dick. But I read “longevity program”, assuming longer life, and my first thought was that there has to be program for those of us who want a shorter life. Without self-harm. I don’t say any of this to invite pity or scorn. Yeah, I’m weird. @BSR, if you want longer life, go for it.
+ sniper Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) The things that shorten your life trend do do so in unpleasant ways...lung cancer/emphysema, for example, is just an ugly way to go Edited 1 hour ago by sniper
