EZEtoGRU Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Mom is 97 and lives at a facility nearby where I live. She wants a tablet to be able to read books and play simple games (ie solitaire, Mahjong, etc). What is the best option for someone who is not tech savvy and just wants it for simple things? Do the tablets have games already loaded onto them such that you don't have to subscribe to games?
BillyMan Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Kindle Fire should be fine. There are lots of free games you can download. BigDMike and EZEtoGRU 1 1

+ JamesB Posted March 24 Posted March 24 The zero effort option: GrandPad is designed specifically for seniors who have never used a computer. Best for Reading & Games: Amazon Fire HD 10. If she wants to read books, especially through Kindle or library apps like Libby and play games, this is the most cost-effective choice. The Modern Option: iPad with “Assistive Access.” If you already use an iPhone or iPad, this is the best option since you can help her remotely. EZEtoGRU 1
EZEtoGRU Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Thanks to both of you for your input. Very useful. Unfortunately mom’s health has declined since my original post. We are in hospice now so she won’t be needing a tablet. Priorities have changed. Thanks again. MikeBiDude and + JamesB 2
