With Wagner Moura in title role. Sold out weeks ahead in my city’s annual Brazilian film fest in November so I missed it. But opens now in general release select theatres including my city to which I return imminently following international travel.

I joined Hulu to see this film. Hulu's commercials are out of control. They are worse than network TV. Paying customers need to tell them to go fuck themselves.

I saw Narcos, fabulous series, and I don't like drug stories. Wagner Moura was mesmerizing as Pablo Escobar.

The Secret Agent is not the film I expected. I was hoping for more tension and possibly more espionage action. It is an interesting cinematic work, so I stayed with it. After it was finished, I went to YouTube to watch critical analysis. I'm glad I did. This film is far deeper than my mind could easily process. The casting in this film is A+. The actors are so real. The cinematography deserves awards. I know almost nothing about Brazil, but 1970's Brazil seems particularly bad, and this film captures it.

I'd love to hear from more gay men their thoughts on this movie. Wagner Moura is a major talent. Not only does the camera love him, his face speaks so easily without a word spoken.

I really enjoyed the film but it is long (at about 2hours 40mins). I thought it was both very well-acted and a marvellous recreation of the 1970s, with insights into the stratification of Brazilian society.

Being older, I recalled the military dictatorship in Brazil when ‘problems’ (or dissidents) were often solved (aka killed or disappeared) by the authorities (military and private vigilantes).

The film is also very entertaining with considerable humour and occasionally shocking moments.

I watched it last night, commercial free. I usually like long movies, but this could have been shorter. I enjoyed it - but I wanted to be “wowed” based on hype I’ve been hearing. I was satisfied, but not “wowed”.
