I like Carol as she tries to figure out her place in a world where her fellow humans have been incorporated into a single hive mind and effectively don’t exist as humans any longer, and who have threatened Carol, in such a nice way, that they’re working on a “solution” for her.  Her effort to bury her partner in their backyard without any help was very sweet.

Rhea Seehorn is wonderful.
I think the show deliberately makes the audience find Carol unlikable in the beginning. We need to wonder if such a cranky representation of humanity is really worth all the fuss.
By episode four, Carol is being revealed as a more complicated person, not just in reaction to THEM.

Exactly. Her partner is killed in episode one. Everyone on earth with the exception of a few people are now pod people and they're trying to do the same thing to her. She's smart, she's funny and she seems to be the only one trying to figure out how to save humanity. I find that likable. Definitely one of the best things I've seen in a long time.
