Average "discount" for longer sessions?

I ask the provider for their 1-, 2-, and 3- hour rates. Sometimes (usually) their 2- and 3-hour rates are less than a one-hour rate times two or three. A couple of guys became snippy with me, including one who asked if I could do math. Needless to say, I didn't hire them.
