+ friendofsheila Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I have 2 that I like: 1 uses a ham hock, it seems like the most common kind the other is a kind of stew with apples I would like to find a differnet one. do you like a lentil soup recipe that is very different from these? I do not really enjoy curry so something else would be nice. thank you.

I love her original Moosewood Cookbook recipe (which may be on the site; if not, google it) and there is one called something like "Lentil Soup with a Hint of Fruit" on the web site. MikeBiDude 1
+ azdr0710 Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Best Lentil Soup Recipe - Cookie and Kate COOKIEANDKATE.COM This healthy lentil soup recipe comes together quickly with pantry ingredients. Simple spices, fresh greens and a squeeze of lemon make it the best! Vegan.
jeezifonly Posted August 20 Posted August 20 If you want a deeper umami with a vegetarian recipe, add tomato paste at the end of the aromatics sauté (onions, garlic) and let it darken in the pan, stirring constantly, before adding any other liquid. I do it almost every time I use the paste in soups and sauces and the payoff is especially great when the right meat is not within reach. And haven't we all been there? MikeBiDude 1

BSR Posted Sunday at 04:24 PM Posted Sunday at 04:24 PM I’m convinced that Spanish lentil stew will one day become one of the great American comfort foods, even if it might take a century or so to catch on. As much as I don’t care for lentils, I absolutely love this lentil stew with chorizo. I would leave out the potato because imo it makes the dish too starchy. Spanish chorizo is fairly easy to find in big cities or on the Internet, but if you want to avoid the pork, you can replace it with a chicken sausage as long it’s a really strong flavorful one.
