Darren Criss’ Tony win made it three years in a row that a Glee grad has claimed a prize at Broadway’s award show. As suggested by THR, could Lea Michele continue the streak with a win next year for her role in the musical revival of Chess?

WHO CARES?  I SAW THE ORIGINAL PRODUCTION IN LONDON!

Lea Michele is undeniably a talented singer, and she delivered a strong performance in Funny Girl. That said, I also appreciated Beanie Feldstein’s take—it was a very different, but valid, interpretation. Two distinct approaches to the same role.

As for Lea, I’m not sure how much goodwill she has within the theater community. Time will tell.

It’s a big sing, and she’s likely up to it. But I don’t think the role is a Tony-maker. I’m still all-in on the original from ‘84, and love Kuhn’s Someone Else’s Story, though.

It  always strikes me as a musical that, on stage, needs a break g budget and an edgy Wunderkind HochKonzept Opera Director
(Barrie Kosky?)
