The Spanish verb complacer means to please, to accommodate. Therefore, you are right, @Gar1eth: what he means by complacent is that he is complaciente, translated as agreeable, accommodating.

Thanks. Nuance can make a big difference— including in the bedroom. Being “agreeable or accommodating” is more passive, while “aiming to please” is more active. Which nuance best describes Luiyi? Only one way to find out!

I would translate “Complacent” as: Willing to please.

Notice the difference between "willing to please" and "aiming to please". The latter is a better translation.
