Rod Hagen Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) This was nice: How My Dad Reconciled His God and His Gay Son https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/02/05/opinion/coming-out-evangelical-pastor.html And if the fucking photo of the man with his son comes up, I did my fucking best to link the article without the photo so just fucking delete the thread without dinging my fucking account fucking again. Thank you. Edited February 20 by Rod Hagen thomas, + jrhoutex and CuriousByNature 3
mike carey Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Thanks for posting this @Rod Hagen. I read the article a few days ago, it's a heartwarming, and I found emotional account of a Christian forced to consider his long held views when they collided with his love for his son. Rod Hagen 1
+ Lucky Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) i thought religion was taboo. I once suggested that someone with a multitude of problems consider joining a church group and it was deleted before the ink could dry. The Lounge A place to gather and exchange ideas. mike carey Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Gentlemen, this thread is fine. So far. It's about an article describing one family's journey that happens to have a religious theme attached. We can talk about the humanity involved or the article itself without venturing into any details about the rights and wrongs of the belief systems that prompted the father's self-reflection. + Pensant, + jrhoutex and CuriousByNature 3

I found the most uplifting aspect of the story to be that sexual orientation and faith are not mutually exclusive matters, and that the father was able to both support his son and expand his own faith experience. And to do so in a way that is benefitting a wider and more diverse demographic than before. + Pensant, Rod Hagen, MikeBiDude and 2 others 5
