If anyone is interested in watching a beautiful holiday concert, I highly recommend this concert which premiered on (my) PBS tonight. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the traditional classical Messiah by Handel. I've never been a fan of remakes.

I have always preferred the traditional as well, but this was a pleasant surprise while I was channel surfing. Beautifully done, and really added to the Christmas spirit. Change is nice sometimes.

Timeless music (and other forms of art) can survive adaptation, style changes and the imagination of new performers. Purists gonna gripe, others will celebrate its new context.
