Looking for a hotel near DCA airport that doesn’t require a key card for the elevator. Better if it’s one that has a digital key card like the Hilton chain hotels use. Also if it’s in Alexandria or DC proper that works too.

thanks!

The Hilton and the Embassy Suites right there at the King St Metro station are good.  The elevator requires a key card but you can use the app as well.  Earliest train to DCA starts at 5:30am and its only two stops.  Takes less than 10 minutes

In that area most of them don't require a key card. The only way to find out is to call the front desk.

King's Street Metro is not DCA, it's nearby but hotels there don't even have a free shuttle to the airport like other hotels near the airport.

The OP said 'near' DCA and that DC proper and Alexandria work too. King Street Metro meets that requirement and those two hotels are a couple of minutes' walk from the station. Convenient for him and for the guest he later mentioned. I've stayed at those and, at the Embassy Suites and a Marriott at Crystal City, and I would pick Alexandria over them. But I guess the luxury of a free shuttle in a van can be important.

First of all:

I was local I was simply giving my opinion.

No need for sarcasm over the "luxury free shuttle", I've stayed at the Hilton and walked to the airport across the sidewalk of the access road.

Oh fun! Telling a mod to not overreact by overreacting to the mod simply pointing out that the OP said in the first post that he's open to non-airport locations too.

And it wasn't a "luxury free shuttle." He said "luxury of a free shuttle." lol

The Viceroy near 14th St/Logan Circle doesn't require a key card to access the elevator. It is also almost always available on Dayuse. McPherson Sq metro is a 10 minute walk for me, but I'm a fast walker.

14th st/logan circle is a little out of way for metro. Also a little sketchy these days

Try calling the the many hotels at Crystal City. One Metro stop away from a DCA. There’s a Marriott near the Mestro and a half dozen other established franchises within walking distance.
