+ BenjaminNicholas Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Funny, charming, updated, witty and exactly what musical comedy should be. Sutton Foster helps carry this show, but not singlehandedly. Basic set, extensive orchestra and an audience who was wonderfully quiet, respectful and appreciative. It's up for 18 weeks. If you can snag a ticket, you won't regret it. foxy Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 IMG_7519.mov Saw this today. After the Encores presentation of Into The Woods I think this is a close second. But that’s Sondheim who can’t be topped . Sutton Foster was brilliant as always. Saw her in Sweeney Todd while she was in rehearsals for this show at the same time. Amazing stamina. Great performances in both. Michael Urie who I’ve seen in several shows was so charming and funny. He’s just so good. Ana Gasteyer who I didn’t know was hysterical as Queen Aggravain. And I really enjoyed Daniel Breaker as the Jester. The whole cast was terrific. I’d happily see this again and highly recommend seeing it. And I came away with a terrific souvenir. When Sutton makes her first appearance after her climb over the wall to the castle, after swimming the moat, IMG_7519.mov IMG_7519.mov she has all sorts of creatures on her body. Her back has leeches which Michael Urie as Prince Dauntless pulls from her back and throws into the audience. I was in the 11th row, center row of the orchestra and one landed in my lap. So I now have this disgusting sticky rubber leech that was attached to Sutton Foster. Better than an autograph I think. thomas, + BenjaminNicholas, MaybeMaybeNot and 3 others 3 1 2
+ BenjaminNicholas Posted August 24, 2024 Author Posted August 24, 2024 For me, it was Daniel Breaker who really sealed the deal. He's ridiculously versatile as a performer. I had spent so many seasons enjoying him on Billions that I had forgotten having seen him in the OBC of Shrek The Musical. I love that you ended up with one of the leeches. Congrats
foxy Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Yes. It really is disgusting. I love it. Maybe I should put it on EBay. BTW I have a strand of silver curtain from the Gaiety Male Burlesque Theater before it closed if anyone is interested ha ha. thomas and + BenjaminNicholas 2
MaybeMaybeNot Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 This sounds so good! I wish I could see this with Sutton Foster and her standby Kara Lindsay. I'm not sure which one I wish I could see more!
handiacefailure Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I saw it in August when I was in NYC when it was still in previews and loved it. Next to Patti Lupone, Sutton Foster is my favorite broadway actress. Sutton really stole the show. She is such a talented singer and really funny. I was in NYC this past weekend and wanted to see it for a second time but didn't have time. This is a must see show for any Sutton Foster fan. + Vegas_Millennial 1
cany10011 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I just enjoyed today’s matinee performance. Truly great role for Foster. Fun comedic show, perfect antidote to the world events going on right now. thomas 1
