Just popped another devil's food cake into my toaster oven.

I have started to mix everything directly in the pie tin… For the devil's food cake and the golden cake I use 1/3 of the mix – I eyeball it – and 1/3 of the water and oil recommended, plus one of the three eggs recommended, and it all comes out wonderfully, with nothing to wash but a spoon.

With the brownie mix, I can put the entire package in the pin and mix it up - more carefully because there's a little bit more of it - and it winds up coming out about the same size and volume as the 1/3 of the package of the devil's food cake or golden cake, so I shant be buying the brownies anymore And will instead be constantly buying, baking, and shoving devils food cake into my mouth in the foreseeable future, which is only sold locally by Walmart, of course, none of which are near me.

The devils food cake is easily the best of the three, the brownie ranks in the middle, and the golden cake brings up the rear, although it is perfectly fine for a no sugar dessert.

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy the mixes.

Because perfection is my middle name. (I don't actually have one.)

I found the mixes on Walmart.com and says they are available for pick up at my local store or free delivery.   I may try the devil's food cake cutting the mix down into an individual serving in my toaster oven.   I'm a diabetic and always trying to watch my carbs.   I need to find the nutritional info because sometimes the zero sugar has as many carbs and calories as the regular

It's nice to have easy, no-sugar dessert options. What brand of toaster oven do you all have in the kitchen? I've been tempted to buy one, but I've heard mixed reviews about their performance.  My sister has a Kitchenaid and loves it, but I'm not paying that much money for a toaster oven.

I have a Proctor Silex Easy Bake Oven that thinks it's a toaster oven that I bought in a supermarket for $19.99 a few days before Thanksgiving 6 or 7 years ago because the fancy one my sister had given me had died after 2 or 3 years.

The timer is only 15 minutes, and you can just close the door if you're using a pie tin.

It also makes a mean Shake 'n Bake chicken wing or four.

I love my Cuisinart convection/toaster oven I bought at costco.   I bought it about eight years ago, and still works great.    I buy sourdough bread at the farmers market that is too wide to fit all the way in using my regular toaster, so I toast the bread in that.   I love cookies fresh out of the oven and can make one or two chocolate chip cookies in it without heating up my regular oven.

I just want to be clear that you are NOT going to think you wandered into your favorite bakery and got their world-famous devil's food cake.  You're getting something sugar-free with decent taste and texture from a box with little muss or fuss.

I'm making the most of my Walmart+ 30 day free trial and have gotten 10 boxes delivered from my nearest superstore, which really isn't so near, over the course of 3 grocery deliveries.  That'll hold me for a bit because I tend to binge-buy, get tired of and ignore, then eventually get back into things I have a hard time getting or an opportunity to get a lot of cheaply.

I made three Shake 'n Bake chicken wings earlier & now have a cake about to come out.  My toaster oven's favorite story as a child was definitely The Little Engine That Could.

I love my Walmart plus subscritpion but not sure if I would pay for it.   I get it free as an American Express benefit.    You also get free Paramount plus with the subscription

I get Paramount+ free with the "added to my sister's subscriptions" plan.

She texted me yesterday that she read you get $20/yr off the Walmart+ price w/ an AARP membership, which I have.

since I only make a third of the devils Food mix at a time and I eyeball the mix and the oil, it never comes out exactly the same, but last night's was the best yet, which is a good thing except for the fact that the way that I've been eating lately if it tasted like cardboard, I would probably devour it and then go find something else to eat.

Actually, at this point I've had one half of what I made with 1/3 of a mix which is supposed to equate to 24 cupcakes so YAY MATH!  I am giving you this math problem to figure out…

How many cupcakes have I eaten?

Just took a devil's food cake out of my ez-bake (toaster) oven. I added 5 dollops of crunchy peanut butter to the mix before I stirred it all up and the slight hint of it in the final product is yummy.

I still mix everything directly in the pie tin… For the devil's food cake and the golden cake I use 1/3 of the mix – I eyeball it – and 1/3 of the water and oil recommended, plus one of the three eggs recommended, and it all comes out wonderfully, with nothing to wash but a spoon.

Ive never owned a toaster oven and didnt realize you could control the temperature well enough. Maybe I am thinking of older models.

My toaster oven has many options, I can bake (at a specific temperature), broil, and toast in it - separate settings for bagels vs toast which I've never understood. I'm a big fan of the "keep warm" option, I'll put things in there as I finish cooking and avoid the whole "trying to make everything finish as the same time" juggling act, as well as just to gently warm up things like croissants or pop-tarts.

When I’ve found a toaster where this actually works…it toasts the bagel’s cut/open side and not the crust/outside. A preference for some of us.
