Seeking advice for upcoming Amsterdam trip

Hey Guys,

 

I'll be visiting Amsterdam in mid-March. This will be my first time in the city and I was wondering if anybody had any advice to offer. Do the brothels hire visiting escorts for a short period of time? Is it better to work in a brothel or as an independent? Waht on-line resources are there for escorts in Amsterdam?

 

Since I have no intention of spending the entire week in the bedroom any recommendations as far as sightseeing would also be welcomed. Not just the major tourist traps, but also any neat little shops or coffee houses that might otherwise be overlooked. I plan on taking in the culture as well as the men:-)

I don't know about Amsterdam brothels, but you could always get in touch with Bertram, the owner of Michael's Boys, the best agency in town. I guess he will be agreeable to hiring you short-term and part time. Talk to him, he is great! Go to their site for info: <www.boysescort.nl>

There are really only two brothels still operating in Amsterdam right now - Blue Boy and Boys Club 21 - they probably would consider hiring someone who was visting for a short time, *but* ...

 

- since the brothels try and operate legally and pretty much above board, they could only hire you if you can work legally in the Netherlands - essentially that means that you would have to be an EU citizen

 

- you probably don't want to work at the brothels anyway because the money is so bad

 

Prices are *much* lower in Amsterdam than the US - the brothels charge clients about NLG 250 per hour - after taxes, the boy gets about NLG 100 per hour (that's between US $40 and $50)

 

I know that Bertram at Michael's Boys does use visting escorts from the US and Canada from time to time - you would probably make a little more that way, but still not much - plus I believe that Bertram likes to have a free "audition" with all of his boys (which might or might not be a problem for you).

Working as an "independent" in Amsterdam is difficult, because there are no good local or national publications to advertise in, like B.A.R., Next, H/X, Unzipped, etc. Most of the ads I have seen in them are in Dutch, as is the text. I would agree with the other posters that contacting Michael's Boys is probably your best bet, since working in Boys Club 21 or Why Not is a pretty grim prospect on holiday. By the way, you might want to check out the Hemp (marijuana) Museum and the Tattoo Museum for the funky side of the tourist industry.

I just wanted to thank everybody who responded privately and publicly to my post. I received some helpful hints on obtaining work and also some great ideas for some sightseeing adventures. If you are going to be in Amsterdam during the same time period as I, March 17 - March 25, I'd enjoy meeting you - even if only for a relaxing cup of coffee.
