Saw it Friday night.  It's running until 6/7.

Aside from a beautiful direction and performance by a very talented cast, the production design by David Hockney is bonkers.

Bright, psychedelic, layered colors.  Whimsical costuming.  Wacky set pieces.  

If you're not a usual fan of opera, this might be the production for you.

Given the parlous financial state of the world’s opera houses a lavish production like that is unlikely to be repeated any time soon.

You’re absolutely right!

I remember the first time I saw the production—I’m going back at least 30 years—there were audible gasps in the audience at the end! It was breathtaking.

None did sleep after that spectacle.
