OP note: Big tech for good and bad will have access not only to what we google and our movement but also who we interact with and everything else. No more privacy! In a post Covid-19 time this will also remind folks about masks, etc. Only time will tell if this will be financially successful or not!

Will this affect the escort business sooner or later?

How does the Apple Vision Pro handle engineering, business management, and other work tasks? I commuted with one and found out.

Early adopters paying the big bucks…some are surprised that adult content is currently not allowed or supported on the Apple product.

Interesting... adult content would be the greatest moneymaker for new technologies like this one.

I guess they (Silicon Valley overlords) don't want more controversy now.

It’s an Apple policy since Steve Jobs, and carries on iPhones etc. can be hacked/jailbroke, but “official” Apple products don’t support porn.

Well, I was one of the first in line, and I've now been using it for about a week. This thing is glimpse of the future. There is a lot about it that is simply amazing, but it is definitely a "1.0" product, with its share of shortcomings and lots of room for improvement. I'm old enough to remember when the original Mac was introduced, and of course the iPhone. In both cases, there were many naysayers, but each of these ultimately changed the world. I'm pretty sure that the importance of this is on the same scale.

Right out of the gate, there are already some questionable assumptions and misinformation. Let me address a couple of these...

That's a real concern, and, in my opinion, an issue I'd take very seriously with Meta/Facebook, Google, or Amazon. Their business models are all about monetizing the data they collect about you and your behavior. Although Apple builds their products with an eye toward locking you into their ecosystem, they take privacy very seriously and their success is based largely on maintain users' trust in those privacy safeguards. Although they get a lot of criticism for their "walled garden" approach, it largely prevents rogue developers from abusing users' privacy. I do some development work, and I can tell you first hand that the privacy-based limitations can be frustrating, and ultimately prevent some interesting possible applications. Apple severely restricts the information that applications can use. For example, a Vision Pro application can't tell what you're looking at until you actually interact with it, and can't directly access the cameras at all.

Like all of the other Apple products, there is plenty of porn available. Generally, they won't allow porn apps on the App Store, but there are no restrictions on the content you can access through a web browser. PornHub, OnlyFans, Rentmen, you name it.

Apple and Microsoft create a product that customers pay for, office365, word, MacBook Pro, iPhone, X-Box, cloud computing, and more.  Facebook and Google do not make a physical product, revenue is based on selling data collected from users.  I cannot afford the apple glasses/ headset but would try the device.  How are apple glasses similar to iPhone?  when first introduced iPhone was competing with Blackberry, both devices solid. Overtime iPhone surpassed Blackberry and other smart phones.  Apple glasses might compete with a similar product from Facebook, SNAP, and Google, I do not purchase any of the three items.  Is Apple glasses model: overtake competition, enter small market, and finally grow from owning a market segment?

Correct, of course and I agree…plenty of fun stuff available. My point was App Store apps for the Apple Vision product…interactive apps for the VR headset might not be as easy to get.

Early adopters are returning the product:

That 14-day return window is fast approaching.

I wouldn't really call them 'early adopters.'  They bought with the intention to return within the window.

True early adopters are the people who take V1 products and endlessly use them and accepts the premium if using the product improves V2 efficiency, reduces cost and increases market penetration.

A lot of the people returning the headset are those who just wanted immediate 'street cred' or had a fledgling tech blog.

What strikes me as an obvious issue is the privacy concern. I don't think I need to elaborate on how big tech having all sorts of data on your virtual threesome with Timothee Chalamet and Tom Holland could be injurious to you.

Run, don’t walk, to an Apple Store and try it out. Although it’s got a long, long way to go, it’s still mind blowing. Looking around at the moon as if you are actually there is itself worth the effort. Then there’s seeing a movie as though you’re in a theater, experiencing a 3D video as if you’re in the scene, and the possibilities of having virtual computer desktops of unlimited number, specific to the location where you leave them. My guess is that it will be at least 10 years before any broad adoption of this tech. Can’t wait.

I will say it's nice to see Apple taking some chances again.

They haven't really released that 'magic-like' product since Jobs died.  This is definitely a step in the right direction.
