My sister had this 45.  I used to borrow it a lot.  I was 8.  I was socially conscious.  I owned the 45 of Ball of Confusion and brought it to school for show and tell as a record that told a story.

There’s a preliminary obit in the NYTimes today. It has a comments section and dozens of readers have provided many links to her performances. I did’t realize she got her start at Woodstock when she was only 22 and unknown. Only one of two female performers at the festival.
My favourite of her songs is “Look what they’ve done to my song”. Didn’t realize it was a song she wrote to respond to the banning of her Rollerskate song by many radio stations. All because of the line “I don’t go fast but I go far” hehe

Minor correction….there were 3 solo female performers at Woodstock.

You’re either forgetting Joan Baez or Janis Joplin.

There were also 2 Bands fronted by female lead singers….Jefferson Airplane and Sweetwater.
