I purchased a Patek Philippe in 1996 for $7792–just checked.  Rose gold.  It’s difficult to imagine the circumstances in which I would spend $2.5M.

If I had that kind of money lying around and everything else in life was covered, maybe—but I’d probably spend it on travel or real estate before a watch.
