I wasn’t aware of the French judicial system trial structure, seemingly a free-for-all level of arguing back and forth relatively speaking, with a mix of official judges and layperson jurors, unweighted. Two-thirds majority required for conviction and the layperson component, for example, could technically trump the judges’ unanimous votes on conviction vs acquittal if such was the pattern. I assume this consistently avoids a hung jury sitch. I am not aware if each juror’s vote is public record. I’m also eagerly looking forward to seeing Sandra Hüller in The Zone of Interest, which also received accolades at Cannes. thomas

Manhattan
She gave a wonderful performance as did the entire cast. The film however, was in desperate need of a better director or editor. They should have cut 30 minutes and not let the camera stay so still for the courtroom scenes.
