+ Lucky Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 The 2023 All-Star game provided viewers with a look at the worst uniforms ever to grace a baseball field. Then FOX ruined it further by featuring miked players prominently on the screen while the game was played. I wanted to see the game, not these gimmicks. I didn't make it to the 5th inning. Alpha714 Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Agree. I liked to see each guy in his own uniform instead of looking at their sleeve to see from what team. The miked thing fails in what it needs to do more times than it works. BuffaloKyle 1
BuffaloKyle Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I was thinking the same thing last night! The uniforms were terrible, the announcers were horrible. And the overall game was boring too. thomas and + Lucky 2
samhexum Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I don't think I've watched the game since I was 10. I thought it was a pointless exhibition then, and never changed my mind.

+ purplekow Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 It had the feel of a Sunday afternoon beer softball league game. Uniforms almost universally hid any sign of an athletic body underneath and all the glad-handing and frivolity of the players made it clear that this was an exhibition game that had out lived its usefulness. It was once a rare opportunity to see Mickey Mantle and Sandy Koufax face one another. Now with interleague play more common than ever, the sense of excitement over league loyalty no longer exists. The least they could do is have the players wearing tight shorts. samhexum 1

I liked that it decided home field advantage, but apparently the players hated it. That said, even when the ASG used to matter, I couldn't bring myself to watch it. samhexum 1

I love the all star game Not everyone watches the other league from where your favorite team plays I For example I rarely watch a Boston Red Sox team now that I live in Philadelphia (since 1970,).

If the #1 seed and #12 seed both made it to the world series and the #12 seed had home field advantage that'd be totally unfair. Plus it really made no sense when two teams met in the world series and no one on either team really had an impact on that years all star game anyway. BSR and samhexum 2
+ WilliamM Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Respectfully Willie Mays played in may All Star Games, including the years when there were were Two All Star Games. So American League fans got to see Mr Mays play. I am a Natural League Fan and was thrilled when I was on Mr Mays ',s side.
