Panama City Beach saw the highest number of deadly incidents linked to rip currents in the U.S. in June, according to the National Weather Service.

The sad part is that it's not complicated to escape the rip current. Just swim to the side, rather than trying to fight the current (which won't work).

As all of my surfer buddies say…..respect the ocean.

100% true 

and if you look at where they're all from - there's a pattern.  Usually not the type that heeds any warnings.
Ya know - freedumb & such 

same ones that didn't listen to Covid vaccines, etc

If they ignored the beach flags and went out in to the water, they're flipping idiots!  Going in the water if there are red or double red flags up is just asking for trouble.

I live on the eastern US coast. Every year we have multiple drownings due to rip currents. As was stated up thread, it's a tragedy because these people don't understand how to swim out of them.
