I just saw Brokeback Mountain for the first time. In the end, one of them was willing to settle for occasional sex for someone he loved and who changed his life. The other kept dreaming and searching because he was unwilling to settle.

 

So Dan, given that, who would you rather be, the onewho settles for inhaling his lovers scent from a once worn shirt and having it be washed by his tears, or the one who continued the search and may have found another love? (granted the second guy winds up dead)

I would put it in a different way:

 

Would you prefer to strive to have a healthy, intense, reciprocal love relationship...

 

or a relathionship in which you are the one who loves, gives, yearns, needs, wants?

 

 

Both are totally valid, and you have the right to choose either. I for one would die being the unrequited lover, I did my fair share of that in highschool, but I know there are plenty of people who love that. A friend of mine, a writer, claims that he never writes better than when he has been dumped, isn't loved back, or while experiencing a big loss.

 

Which reminds me; In the movie "The Holiday", one of the characters in the movie says that in movies there are two types of female characters: Leading ladies, and the best friend. "You definitely are a leading lady," This character acuses his friend, "But you keep acting as if you are the best friend in your own picture!"

 

Whatever it is that you choose, I hope that you will be happy, content and that your heart will be safe and strong.

Just to ADD another 2 Cents...

 

As Long as there is THE "KA-CHING" Factor, Reality can't be ignored for very long. Sadly-Usually when the "KA-CHING" runs out, The Decision has been made just what the Relationship was.

 

Bottom Line..This ain't THE MOVIE "Pretty Woman"
