Franco's comments on travelling sparked a question in my mind.

 

Toronto is not "on the circuit" like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, et al., so relatively few escorts pass through our fair but bland city. The alternative -- flying someone in -- would involve an extra layer of expense for the client to bear (transit, air flight, accommodation, meals, entertainments, etc.), which is okay, but I've hesitated "importing" because I'm not interested in more than an overnighter at this point.

 

So, is distance travelling to an overnight session a serious disincentive? New York/Toronto is not much more than a shortish commute either way, but Los Angeles/Toronto involves a quarter-day in the air. Do you escorts inwardly groan (or maybe rejoice?) at the thought of flying out one afternoon only to return the next morning?

I have made the trip from DC up to NYC for overnights on several occasions. Of course, it was via the train, and I rather like traveling by train. It is much less stressful since you don't have to be at the station more than about 15 or 20 minutes in advance and it takes me right into the heart of NYC.

 

However, I would certainly entertain the thought of traveling someplace like Toronto for an overnight. I think that it is fun and exciting to get away from DC for little excursions elsewhere! And, I don't travel so much that the thought of getting on a plane makes me want to scream. :-)

Love to travel... but... I usually prefer to travel to northern cities in the spring and summer.... not the dead of winter. I mean, if it's cold here in Boston, I can't imagine Toronto!

My advice?

Rather than import, simply travel to another city. You eliminate having to fix someone else's travel arrangements, and you don't limit your choices of companionship. Plus, you can try a few escorts out over the span of a weekend without breaking the bank!

Well what is one to do when traveling is not the best option, being married and do not travel for job? I live in Milwaukee and as I just posted to another line I just had an escort from San Antonio visit me here in Milwaukee. I will see escorts when they travel to Chicago, by going there, but it does end up being almost four plus hours of travel. I have a couple who are willing to drive up for a premium which is okay, but for couple hundred more I could pay for the flight and have the gentleman for a longer period of time. That is why I tried having one fly in, that was for two nights to make it worthwhile. But I had a guy fly in from Cincinnati late morning and leave the next day early afternoon. Does this arrangement make the escort feel rushed? I would like to do something like this with a New York or Boston escort, if they are comfortable with it. It ends up being little more than 28 hours for a mid week visit which is usually more open for an escort, plus I do not stay the night and the escort gets a full nights rest if he wishes.

 

By the way Milwaukee has less snow and has actually been warmer than Boston. Lets face I do not have a lot to chose from here.

Toronto gets a few traveling escorts and a good number who also come here seem to be traveling with a client. It is a one hour flight from NYC and Air Canada flies from 4 airports in the area Newark, JFK, Westchester, and with almost hourly flights from La Guardia. It is an hour and a half from DC. The flights from Dulles and BWI are easier. The most convenient is Air Canada from National but since it is the only nonAmerican airline allowed there it has extra security on the return leg home. So that adds a bit of inconvenience. There is always the appalling service of USAirways and cancelled flights to deal with.

First off I LOVE to travel. I have never moaned and groaned when I have had to travel for work or for persoanl reasons. There was one trip unfortuately that I was flown from Seattle to SF just for a day. I got into SF and met up with the guy and headed into the city. I really had fun he was laid back and relaxed. It was dissapointing cause I would have liked to stay an extra day to get to know him better but all and all I am glad that I had the chance to meet him. I would suggest that if you have the funds and you find someone that you might click really well with fly him up for a weekend. I have had clients visit me in Chicago from both Milwaukee and from Detroit. Both drove. I personally thought it was a long drive; only one of these two gentlemen visited with me for more than one hour - we met for three, all of which were spent in the comfort of my hotel bed.

 

I think the whole situation is somewhat analogous to commerce generally. There are museums in many large cities, but not all; there are more museums in certain cities, whereas others may only have one; certain exhibits only travel between certain museums and never hit these other cities; finally, while one may find art to appreciate anywhere, the particular art which you may prefer just may never get to a museum in or near your home. Sometimes, you need to travel to a museum if you really have a strong desire for something very specific.

 

When I said circuit, I meant there are cities anyone: escort, client, hetero or homo, might wish to visit, some of these perhaps only once; other cities are far more on the beaten path. Conversely, as Small Town John is an excellent example in one circumstance (he travels frequently throughout the south) and I am in another (traveling frequently between Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Palm Springs), some escorts may be more willing or open to travel between smaller distances. Aaron, in D.C., is not far from Manhattan as well as Philadelphia. He also is fairly close to some of the cities in, for example Virginia, Maryland and elsewhere, where a client might ask him to come visit or may visit him.

 

It is a give and take situation. And, as with many other issues that arise on this site, it is one of the classic "it depends" situations. Any number of escorts might want to travel, either on their own or at your expense, someplace near or to your doorstep. The idea of encouraging a visit by someone who might not otherwise do so is to make it worth their while. I had an interest in visiting Toronto since I never have and had some clients write to me before I even started traveling, asking if I ever would consider traveling to or near the area. One was even willing to travel to Montreal for a one hour session, which as I have said elsewhere, I consider excessive, but like you, this client had particular desires he could not otherwise get satisfied. Eventually, the trip to Toronto was justified for me by the number of inquiries. Not all these inquiries turned into actual hires. One client cancelled his session the morning of due to "unexpected" illness. Another simply never scheduled one in the week I was there, even though we had written each other a number of times in the months and weeks leading up to the actual trip. When he finally returned my last e-mail, I had continued onto my return trip to D.C. He said he had gotten my dates "mixed up" but hopefully we could meet when I returned to Toronto. I said such a trip was unlikely, which remains the case.

 

On the other hand, these types of cancellations or non-meeting happen to me in San Francisco but I have two clients who consistently and regularly hire me for an overnight, so even if I see no other clients, the trip is worthwhile.

 

I have a client who owns a home in Palm Springs. Either we travel together or he provides me with access to his home while he is not around. In any event, it is a trip I can take at any time without worry about whether my expenses would exceed income or if I would end up bored, alone or waste a lot of time and energy trying to obtain clients.

 

Even popular, traveling escorts get cancellations or no-shows, so everyone has different reasons and different standards about where they will travel, when they will travel and why.

 

The idea of several clients trying to make this worthwhile is not really a bad one and some of you clients or all of you clients may need to compromise on some of your requirements to find an acceptable solution for you all. For example, he might be a body builder who is versatile but has no facial hair, but he could meet you first with stubble then shave for the other two clients.
