JNY
Man it was the best there. I usedto go there in the early 2000’s. I have a feeling it was even better in the earlier days.

I always liked Show Palace myself. The place closed before Gaiety did, I have never seen anything like it - except in Bangkok. There was a semblance of revival with 'Club 20' but that only lasted for a year or so. And it was limited to Sunday night. The Adonis parties are just not the same thing, kyleham and RyanDean 1
Mercury
Can anyone share what the Show Palace was like? I’ve been to Gaiety a few times when I was exploring the city for the first time. I ended up at another adult entertainment venue in Times Square, but can’t remember the name. This was in the late 90’s. Being from the west coast, I wasn’t accustomed to the gay NYC scene and really timid. I recall going to the Cock and another small bar that was PACKED at 1:00am and had one gogo dancer, and a bunch of club kids and drag queens. RyanDean
ShowPalace was skankier than Gaiety, for sure. But like the Gaiety, you walked up a narrow staircase to pay the entrance fee and then entered a lounge area of sorts. From there, you could go to a screening room, where a porn flick was playing in a not-dark room with maybe six or seven rows of movie theatre seats. Or you could go to the show room, where a small platform -- maybe 8'x8' at about 18" high -- was surrounded on three-sides by rows of theatre seating. The dancers would do a slow strip, then do a j/o show. Tippers could usually have a bit of a feel. There would usually be an advertised "headliner" (typically a porn star in from California) who would take to the stage at certain times (like maybe every two or three hours). But a new dancer would hit the stage every 20 minutes or so. I liked how it was just much looser than the structured shows at Gaiety, where the guys tended to be more buff and more beautiful. ShowPalace guys were mostly black or Latin. mikefl81
Bumping this. I’ll be in NYC later this month for just one night - Wednesday. Wondering if anything has changed and if there is potentially an option on Wednesdays? Thanks!

Buff Daddy
Oh Yes 👍. The Show Palace. I have a story about that place. It will be in my book 📚. Anything would go there. There was a video, book, magazine store on 8 and 42 St. You had to go down a few steps to enter the store. I bought my first male magazine. Anyone remember In Touch. Also the Advocate was available. Back in the day it was more like a newspaper 🗞️. They had a pull out section where all the escort ads were. Sometimes in yellow 🟡 or pink. Good fun days 👍.
