I confess that I have never had a three-way although I have a curiosity about it. This question interests me because I have always stopped because I don't see how it would work. 3-ways can be lots of fun, though it is interesting that you mentioned that you thought you would need 2 bottoms to have fun. Actually, surprisingly, as a top myself, I have found that having 2 bottoms is actually a bad combination for me.

 

I usually end up more attracted to one bottom than the other. Then I start to feel "obligated" about giving some attention to the other, or "guilty" about not spending time with him. Then when I do, all I can think about is getting back to the other one! Far too much internal conflict to make for a totally fun time!

 

For me as a top, the best combo's have been myself, a bottom, and a vers. In this case, I can focus my attention on the bottom, and when I do, the vers takes care of himself by either doing things with me or simultaneously with the bottom. If I need a variety break from the bottom, the vers is there. If I am in a voyeuristic mood, I can watch the vers and the bottom go at it for a while. Interesting! I guess my added problem (?) is that I like to get verstaile Tops or regular Tops to bottom for me so I always end up worrying that they will get bored in the three-way. That's why I have always assumed that you need to have at least one, but maybe two, commited bottoms.

I have found that the best way to have a great time in a situation like that is not to think about it too much, just to let it happen. I generally find that when there are too many expectations, it's hard to live up to all of them. That makes it not fun. I've only done three 3-ways in my life and I hated all of them. I was always just attracted to one of them but felt guilty if I gave all my atention to the one I liked.
